I love this.
Aww thanks! That's sweet of you to say! π
When I think it's close to the color I want, I rinse rinse rinse in my kitchen sink with progressively colder water til I no longer see dye coming out. I've put it in the dryer before, but I usually hang to dry outside (out of direct sunlight). I've never had a problem with dye bleeding this way!
and then shake a bunch of salt in there, and a big splash of vinegar, then I add my dye and stir. I plop my fabric in the tin and make sure it's submerged and there's no sneaky bubbles making the fabric float. Sometimes I let it soak for 10 minutes, sometimes many hours, just spot check.
I do it the easy way! I boil some water and then prep my dye-station, which consists of one of those disposable metal tins you use for potlucks, a plastic spoon, my dye, salt, and white vinegar. I soak my white fabric in water so it's wet all the way through. I pour the boiling water in my tin...
Yes! I used white aida that I had been hoarding and never using, since I'm keen on stitching more on color. It's super easy and a fun rabbithole to figure out!

A cross stitch project on bright yellow fabric, staged with moss, bobbinated floss, leaves, and flowers. The cross stitch shows two harvest mice, perched on top of white daisies, their noses touching. There's a subtle variegated alphabet. BAD Stitch.
Can you believe this is the first sampler I ever designed? Two cute harvest mice are perched on daisies, kissing noses!
I hand-dyed this fabric using liquid Rit dye & stitched the alphabet and border details with COSMO Seasons.

Safe travels!! Have a great time!
FINALLY finished this cross stitch for my bff (In-joke, long story)!
Actually pretty proud of it π

This is family heirloom. *chef's kiss*
As soon as you acknowledge it as a possibility, life gets tricky like this. π
Hi bb <3
A close up of a cross stitch project, just showing a portion of the design. There's a simple green border with a tiny white daisy, and a field mouse, perched on a daisy. The photo is staged with green and purple foliage.
Here in the coastal south, flowers and trees are starting to bloom. I'm sorry for everyone who is still dealing with snow.

Have fun!!!
Yeah! Way to find it again!

Very cool!! Kudos for getting through all that grey!
A purple, flowery piece of fabric, with white cross-stitch fabric sewn onto it, containing the hand-stitched quote βWhat you do makes a difference and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to makeβ - Jane Goodall. The piece is tied to a chain link fence with brown string. There is a playing field in the background. - a label attached to the piece says βCraftivist Collective. Made with courage and love.β
@craftivists mini protest banner. Took me 6 months to make as Iβm not very good at sewing! Iβve put this up on a fence at the end of the footpath leading to my childrenβs school. A gentle nudge to passersby to encourage them to make a difference for good. #craftivist #trowbridge #gentleprotest
You did such a lovely job!! It looks great for not having much experience with embroidery!! I hope lots of people pass by this and feel connected. <3
A picture of a cross stitch artwork featuring a very chonky cat, with a little tiara and a princess wand, and fairy wings. The cross stitch is displayed in an embroidery hoop, which is surrounded by artificial flowers on a pink background.
FREE pattern! This super chonky fairy loaf cat cross stitch pattern is now available on my ko-fi page! (Link below) πππ§ββοΈβ¨
This cute and squishy kitty purrs extra loud and glows bright sparkly pink when she receives a scratch behind her ear. :3

I swore them off, too!! Why am I like this??? π
I hope you get your color soon!!!
@mathysphere.gay is the best!
ooh this is gorgeous. I love the shading and the delicate backstitching!
Love this idea!!! I have some pals who are doing something similar, but also smaller. They're stitching the color palettes of the book cover into small quilt-like blocks. I love the idea of bookmarks though, you carry them around even after you're done reading!
I want this hat.

Ooh with rainbow goodness!
Normally that would be cool, but this is a model stitch, gotta be specific π
