There has never been an official, comprehensive record of Black-owned bookstores across the United States — until now
guys.. GUYS!
Gorillaz has released two trailers in anticipation of their new album's only music video.
It will be an 8-minute animated film titled "The Mountain, The Moon Cave, and The Sad God" ENTIRELY HAND-DRAWN ANIMATION. I'm talking techniques from The Jungle Book!

I started watching Shrinking a few weeks ago and man, do I really love this show. The way it explores relationships without being preachy or disingenuous is incredible. Using therapy as the premise is brilliant. And the writing! 🤌🏿
Longest vacation I ever took was an entire month back home. When I tell you I was upset to go back, to a blizzard at that? I'll never forget that feeling of dread.
I have a personal goal to make sabbaticals + extended breaks a part of my work life, one way or another.
I've been told before that it is. But I'm not so sure myself tbh.
WOW. WOW!
Not for nothing: At least Davidson's team is reaching out to apologize (although again, we need to have bigger discussions about systemic racism because every Black person in there + watching was impacted). Meanwhile it's useless apologies + lies with the BAFTAs and BBC.
It just keeps getting overlooked that Black people were harmed and continue to be harmed by the omission of any acknowledgement of their humanity and the dignity they deserve to be in public spaces with. JFC.
The understanding is burying the harm and it's pushing away a very real conversation to be had about the systemic aspects of this situation. Not just the applause for grace in the face of dehumanization. But the *power* of the word across contexts and the privilege to deny its impact.
This is so shitty on so many levels I can't even begin to name them. Orchestrated disrespect and nasty behaviour.
And still, *up till now* there has been ZERO apology directly to Lindo or Jordan in unequivocal, non-qualifying terms. ZERO acknowledgement of the harm they have faced.
Welp:

Same! I miss it so much. It was reliable and simple, to the point. It wasn't as overwhelming as phones after it. I wish I kept mine longer!
I come back to this song a lot and really love what Mos (at the time) did with it.

Everything I find out - who the president of the BAFTAs is, Warner Bros. request etc. - leads me to believe that the entire ordeal was probably orchestrated and on purpose on several levels. It all just keeps making sense, tbh. That Google AI nonsense is just more evidence against AI.
Delroy Lindo & Michael B Jordan
Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo
Bless these two beautiful humans.
The perks of Canadian PR, amirite? 🙃
After considerable soul-searching, I feel compelled to withdraw from the BAFTA emerging talent judging panel. The organisation's handling of the unfortunate Tourette's N-Word incident last night at the awards was utterly unforgivable. I cannot and will not contribute my time energy and expertise to an organisation that has repeatedly failed to safeguard the dignity of its Black guests, members and the Black creative community. This is particularly unfortunate given that this year's cohort boasts some incredible Black talent, especially one of my favourite shows of 2025 "Just Act Normal". However, when an organisation like BAFTA, with its own long history of systemic racism, refuses to acknowledge the harm inflicted on both the Black and disabled communities and offer an appropriate apology, remaining involved would be tantamount to condoning its behaviour. I hope BAFTA leadership comprehend the damage they and the BBC have caused and take the necessary steps to ensure their production staff are inclusive enough to prevent such an issue in the future. Yours sincerely, Jonte Richardson
Black filmmaker Jonte Richardson says he is stepping down as a BAFTA judge:
I really could go on. This is a place of rooted violence. That violence is lethal. And the resistance goes on, even in the face of the PR Canada does to show you otherwise.
No place or direction you look is unscathed. Canada's last segregated school closed in 1983. The last residential school closed in 96 or 97. There are sundown towns, places like Grassy Narrows with 10+ yrs of boil water advisories, loong history of discrimination against Black Caribbean nurses etc.
People still don't think Black and Indigenous people exist in Canada even though we've *been* here for centuries. Canada is a literal ongoing colonial project and yet it's viewed as a racism-free utopia. Meanwhile we're shot dead, denied care, discriminated against on the job etc. by design.
And then on top of that, letting a white person define the meaning of a word that he is mortified by yet doesn't acknowledge the impact and harm of is too fucking much. And we're supposed to believe....OK.
Every time I think this can't get worse, it does.
This is really the bare minimum. Self-awareness + empathy would have went a long way.
The fact that media outlets, many of which are the same ones that bashed Sinners, are not helping by ignoring the real impact + weight + history of the word in context, is shameful.

Too difficult to acknowledge that harm was done, irrespective of what was meant/intended.
Too difficult to recognize that Black people deserve to be in spaces with their dignity intact.
Too difficult to recognize that structural oppression makes IMPACT.
Too hard to show empathy to Black people.
That "if" is LOUD. He confirms that he left b/c he was mortified. No mention of the real harm that Black people experienced. And *once again* the focus is not the impact of racism and the weight of the word irrespective of what was intended.
I see that the disrespect has entered another galaxy.
SO CONFUSED. I'm not understanding this at all. Too many people are using that focus *in order to* refuse and refute the harms of racism and specifically that the impact of it is non-existent. It's ridiculous!
1. BS apology from the host
2. Zero apology from BAFTAS
2a. No editing of the broadcast
3. N-word hurled more than once
4. No acts of care or concern towards MBJ or Delroy, Black people
5. Zero accommodations for safety
6. All during BHM
The disrespect is in outer space at this point.
(……one of the more useful things journalists do, I think, is help people understand who to be mad at, and why)
