Thank you so much Sarah for this - I'm so glad that we have inspired you!
🎙 It's exactly one year since @drrebeccaboyd.bsky.social chatted with me and @thebigelbee.bsky.social about Ireland's Viking-Age towns and Rebecca's new book, Exploring Ireland's Viking-Age Towns: Houses and Homes!

As always, a great morning in @experimentarchaeol.bsky.social last week. Marie and I took a fieldtrip to visit Aidan and Brendan and we all happily chatted about early medieval houses, crannogs and chronologies for hours!
Spotted on my way to the @iaiarchaeo.bsky.social meeting this morning.
Can you see the horned helmet?
A poster for Dr Rebecca Boyd's publication "Exploring Ireland's Viking-Age Towns: Houses and Homes", part of Routledge's series "Archaeologies of the Viking World". The poster shows an illustration of a Viking-age thatched longhouse, situated within a fenced enclosure next to a bay. There is a long boat in the bay. Two figures stand out front of the longhouse.
A graphic listing the details of the EGM: the EGM will be held at the Helen Roe Theatre at 63 Merrion Square in Dublin, at 11am on Saturday 23 November.
Join us this Sat 23 Nov at 11am for our EGM! We're hoping to discuss & ratify our new constitution & by-law docs & present our new Strategic Plan, followed by a light lunch & guest lecture from Dr Rebecca Boyd at 130pm.
Please visit tinyurl.com/5fayc9dz to register.
We hope to see everyone there!
Better yet, submit a paper to Professor Ben Jervis (bpj4@leicester.ac.uk), by Friday 31st January 2025.
ECRs working on urban archaeology and contributions from commercial archaeology particularly welcome.

I'll be in Dublin next weekend to speak to @IAIarchaeo members. Much of my research is based on developer-led archaeological discoveries and I'm really looking forward to speaking about how we can interpret the data after it comes out of the ground.
