To be fair, he might instead be doing this as National Security Advisor….
Counterpoint: This is exactly not what unconditional surrender means.

we’ve backed into lib prepper culture. I actually kind of understand the appeal
Here is a man with more simple moral integrity & courage that the vast bulk of Dem electeds & pundits.
Elon Musk has already started plans to launch a million satellites.
Yes. A MILLION.
This is a colossally bad idea, and it's not too late to make your voice heard. I explain everything:

This comes soon after reports that Russia is helping Iran with the targeting and locations of US forces, so…..
Just announced: Iceland has urgently moved up its referendum to join the European Union - to 29 August.
A reminder: 🇮🇸 is in many ways already a non-voting 🇪🇺 member because of the EEA. This would give them voting power to shape the laws they have to follow.
Crazy to think that these people were doing actual jobs that might have been important
Screenshot from the article linked in the post reading as follows: The FBI’s search of the family home turned up nothing to substantiate those allegations. What they did find, however, was Hemani’s gun. Hemani also admitted to the agents he had roughly two ounces of weed in the house, and consumes marijuana “about every other day.” This is unremarkable: Millions of Americans own a gun, and millions of Americans use marijuana. But technically, the federal Gun Control Act of 1968 makes it illegal for any person “who is an unlawful user of or addicted to” certain controlled substances, including marijuana, to possess a gun. So in February 2023, federal prosecutors charged Hemani with a felony, and held him in pre-trial detention for seven months.
Much about the 'would the Framers be ok with gun rights for weed smokers' case is v funny but there is a serious part that hasn't gotten much attention
The govt targeted this Muslim family, hit dude w/ these goofy charges, & detained him for months before trial

The Trump administration took your money illegally.
They won’t give it back.
Weird chart. What happened in 2025 in the US? Did political leadership change and then start systematically dismantling education, science, health care, and government, levying arbitrary tariffs, randomly attacking major US cities, and destroying the economy?
Just asking.
I think they might have better luck spending two thousand dollars holding a press conference where they detail who made the key decisions to collaborate with the Trump administration, how and when they were fired, and explaining what would stop that from happening again.
ICE has arrested and detained a Nashville journalist who reported stories critical of ICE. She’s married to a U.S. citizen and has been seeking asylum here after fleeing death threats in Colombia because of her journalism there.
They’ve already sent her to Louisiana.
This is also a magnificently strange statement to make when our primary partner in the illegal war is Israel!
Has anyone confirmed whether Kristi Noem gets to keep her blanky if she’s leaving DHS?!
All the best people
The use of AI to identify targets (without subsequent specific human confirmation) should be considered a war crime.
And by that I don't mean "we should make a rule" I mean that straightforward application of the existing rules would tell you that it is a war crime.
We identified 12 shootings by federal agents that led to the deaths or injuries of citizens & immigrants since Sept.
Nearly every time, the Trump admin blamed the injured and dead. Experts say this apparent lack of accountability demands that local authorities step up to investigate federal agents.
Three or four of these despicable group chats have become public, but here's the thing: It's absolutely certain that there are HUNDREDS of group chats just like them that we'll never learn about. There's an entire generation of groyper Republicans, and in a few years they'll be running the party.
They’re still lying to us.

One of the reasons I feel so ambivalent about age-gating and various moves to limit 230 is that the version of the internet at risk was designed to have, like, companies that felt shame and tried to do the right thing?
Every time I read a new Chotiner interview I think of how easy it would be for other journalists to do what he does. Just do your homework, ask follow-up questions and don't move on until you get a response. It also doesn't seem to have cost Chotiner that most precious journalistic resource: access.
there's a lot going on right now but did you know a massive amount of the world's fertilizer flows through the middle east, and did you know that that fertilizer needs to be shipped to the us *right now* for planting season, and uh did you know we are at war with iran
This is not the way serious leaders talk about war.
We have lost all sense of proportion. Every one of those lives deserved to live. It is shocking to me how the idea of killing and the tallying of Trump’s kills has vanished into the fog of confusion that Trump seems to send out. We don’t seem to be able to record, number, and grieve this massacre.
If anyone is friends with any Georgian air traffic controllers, buy them a nice bottle of wine. As guardians of pretty much the only narrow gap still available between Europe and Asia that avoids both Iran, the Gulf, Ukraine and Russia, they are under some substantial pressure.
