Anyway, finalizing the self editing guide for March's newsletter this weekend as well as a dev edit. Newsletter switching to quarterly cadence from now on!

Life lately: busy with new job, chasing kids around, and avoiding storms when possible. Last night's was brutal in our region but we managed fine.

I faced a layoff from my day job, and instead of enjoying the holidays jumped into a job search. I’m happy to say it has paid off and I’m now gainfully employed! That being said, the focus of my full-time job puts me at a crossroads where I need to determine where my attention belongs. Here’s what to expect moving forward: Fewer bookings - For most of my adult life my attention has been split, and I’m now in a place where I want to move forward intentionally. That means I’ll be taking fewer projects and referring out more. Scaled down offerings - I’ve expanded into many areas within editing and book marketing. However, I plan to analyze what is going on, scale back, and also review my site to better align with that goal. Monthly updates to quarterly on social and here - Beginning in April the newsletter will change to a quarterly cadence. I’ve also already scaled social posts back and will be providing updates from now on about discounts and resources less often but more prominently in the updates. What will my new time away from editing go to instead? Well, work of course, but I have always wanted to write more than just short stories, so likely there, and time with family that has normally been weekends where I’m focused on client projects.

I am floored at how shifty people can be. Well, not floored because I've seen it before, but the secondhand frustration is real.

I promise to get back into bookish posts. With 3 of the 5 of us finally recovered from the flu the last week has felt like a fever dream (on account of, well, fevers and such).

I need to hold people's hands when I say this:

Your voluntary choice to stop participating in a paying job temporarily is not the same as someone whose family depends on their income and benefits (like health insurance) experiencing a layoff.

The things I've heard as of late...sheesh.

Finally got some good news on the job front! 🎉 Relief is an understatement.

Not me ruminating in the shower about the job interview where I was one of two final candidates two weeks ago and still haven't heard back. Why would I do a thing like that? 😅😬

I had a full conversation with my 3 year old as we laid on the couch this morning about what he wanted to watch on the TV, only to realize he's not even awake as he points to a screen I cannot see behind closed eyelids to request a video. 🤦‍♀️

Poor kiddo isn't feeling well 😞

Funemployment update: this is me every day as I wait on job application responses. 🫠 Thank goodness for my editing work!

My skills include copywriting, social media management, SEO, and more! 12+ years WordPress experience as well as book blurb and synopsis writing!

I had an amazing call with my son's kindergarten teacher yesterday. It helped during a week (read: month) where I feel like I'm failing as a parent. Turns out he's doing wonderful with classmates and listening, a total 180 from how things often are at home lol.

Would any authors be open to hiring an experienced marketing assistant part-time? I'd still like to continue with my editing biz but the job hunt struggle is REAL so I'm open to other work as well. 💗
