By donating to lgbtqks.org you're funding driver's license related costs, general mutual aid, and relocation funds.
And by donating to the acefoundationict.org you're directly helping pay off medical bills of trans Kansans struggling to afford healthcare.
Both are great!! Support them both!!
Updating again -- today I talked to a community leader involved with both the acefoundationict.org and lgbtqks.org , she said both orgs are EXTREMELY grateful for the support and are already using money from donations to DIRECTLY SUPPORT TRANS PEOPLE IN KANSAS in meaningful and impactful ways!!

Kansas is invalidating trans residents' licenses even if they HAVEN'T changed their gender markers, according to this reporting from @natezuke.bsky.social @assignedmedia.org:
www.assignedmedia.org/breaking-new...
This story, from @natezuke.bsky.social, is absolutely wild. A trans woman who never changed her gender marker was issued a letter invalidating her license. At the DMV they cut up her license, which had an "M" marker.

Updating this: the LGBTQ Foundation of Kansas is also leading a driverβs license related fundraising effort

It's really tough out there, I feel for you being in Texas. I really hope you get some wins this election season, I definitely believe it's possible
Update/Scoopβ New guidance sent this AM to Kansas DMVs indicates licenses that previously had gender marker changed not actually invalid yet. However, internally DMV can see who is flagged, and keeping track of who has/hasn't come in to update. Seems about 300 trans/GNC ppl flagged across the state.
The other problem is that Kansas has a gubernatorial election this November and our current gov, Laura Kelly, isn't eligible to run again because of term limits. So there's a lot of concern about the Republicans winning the gov race and then enacting legislation to disrupt the state Supreme Court
The ACLU of Kansas is taking a lot of action right now, they a filed suit earlier today. Kansas's governor isn't to blame for this tho, she's a Democrat who has consistently vetoed bigoted legislation like this. The problem is our state legislature has a Republican supermajority to override vetoes
Yeah absolutely, I'll do my best to answer
UPDATE:
TYSVM, WE NOW HAVE $ TO DIRECT TO THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE IN BOTH DIRECT MUTUAL AID AND LOCAL, TARGETED ACTION.
PLEASE NOW TURN YOUR DONATIONS TO THE TRANS LAWRENCE COALITION. WE HAVE DIRECT RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE COMMUNITY FOR THEIR HISTORY AND WORK:
tlcks.org/mutual-aid-f...
I understand the instinct to donate to orgs that are helping trans folks flee red states but let's not forget about the orgs that are still fighting for trans folks in red states.
The ACE foundation is a local nonprofit organization serving the Wichita Kansas LGBTQ community. They help low income community members by providing a food pantry, a gender affirming clothing closet, helping people pay for healthcare + prescriptions, and providing assistance for other critical needs
Please also support the LGBTQ Foundation of Kansas lgbtqks.org
Leaving Kansas is really not a helpful solution, plz redirect attention and resources to KS community orgs that can provide immediate material support instead. Moving isnβt possible without valid ID and people need $ to fund just the id. Good place to start is acefoundationict.org , also see image
also because it's Kansas, and it's a Bad State so it's not surprising for bad things to happen here, and it's our fault for living here anyway and trying to fight back and not just moving away (with all the disposable income we all have, you know a rich state like Kansas)
It is very hard not to have a safe choice to use the bathroom in public.
It may be impossible to continue living, working, eating, etc without a valid driver's license if your life was built around driving and the assumption that your license wouldn't be invalidated overnight by the legislature.
Also obligatory disclaimer that I personally am βfineβ re: the Kansas anti trans bills bc I still havenβt updated any of my legal documents so this bill doesnβt affect me in a material sense. Saying this to emphasize I personally do not need any help, distribute your resources to people who do
Meanwhile actual law will take a lot more time and resources to fight and the KS ACLU is the best place to donate to support that. Not to mention there are a ton of other REALLY BAD bills going through the KS legislature right now that ALSO need to be fought
For example the ACE foundation is tied to a major trans healthcare provider in Wichita and literally just giving money to pay off trans Kansansβ medical bills is also EXTREMELY helpful and will have a HUGE immediate impact.
Anything that isnβt βgive trans people in Kansas money right nowβ is really not helpful because in order to successfully move to another state, you NEED to have current valid identification! Drivers licenses are critical to daily life functions and invalid ID has huge and immediate consequences!
Iβm transgender, I live in Kansas, if you want to help rn donate to either the ACLU of Kansas or the ACE foundation in Wichita - the ACE foundation especially is the organization that will help people with money for groceries, rent, etc. More orgs also included in attached img
acefoundationict.org
Donating to the ACE foundation is a good place to start for this! this is where the money that will help trans people in Wichita (biggest city in KS) be able to eat, pay for healthcare, and get rides will come from:

Definitely donate to the ACLU of Kansas. Donating to the ACE foundation is also a good place to start, this is where the money that will help trans people in Wichita (biggest city in KS) be able to eat, pay for healthcare, and get rides will come from:
acefoundationict.org
The ACLU of Kansas is the other best option to donate to for the time being:

As a trans Kansan, this is really not helpful. Leaving the state isnβt possible or realistic for most of us, plus we shouldnβt have to be forced to leave in the first place. Attached is an image with KS community resources to contact that can actually help people in this current moment:
