I remember it and miss it!
Such a great show.
I even bought the series from ebay, but 2 out of 3 discs were damaged and wouldn't play. 😭

Cover of four books in Pacts Arcane and Otherwise series and text:
If anyone asked Kamira, talking to demons was like willingly walking into an assassin’s blade. She might have made a pact with one, but both she and her demon were happy enough to reap the benefits of the pact without engaging in too many conversations.

She might have made a pact with one, but both she and her demon were happy enough to reap the benefits of the pact without engaging in too many conversations.

The main character of Pacts Arcane and Otherwise, Kamira, isn't the most trusting person, with the exception of her best friend, Veelk. Demons? They get the triple of her usual healthy distrust toward everyone, and that still feels too little. After all, you can't trust even your own pact demon.

It might be a small milestone, but I'm a small author: ;)
By the Pact has now reached 100 ratings on Goodreads!
It's a good moment to thank all my readers who not only read my books but also take time to rate and/or review them on all platforms and stores.
THANK YOU!

It's true that I rarely stray from doing fantasy and sci-fi art, but every now and then, I like to try something else. With "Trouble Brewing" I was hoping to get the feel of an old movie or a photograph. Did I succeed?

I wrote Reva when I was in my 20s. I wanted Reva to be the kind of person who broke all the rules, especially social conventions aimed at young women. Reva is angry, proud, and skilled. She refuses to believe that she can't accomplish her goals, no matter how impossible they may seem to others. Women's Day.
Book cover of Wish Givers by Shannon Knight, including a blown-up cut-out from the cover illustration by Elizabeth Peiro of a tattooed woman smiling up at the viewer while surrounded by fire and a ring of ghosts.

For Women's Day, my friend Niranjan @ormakal.bsky.social coordinated a book bundle with 32 women authors all featuring women protagonists.

Wish Givers, my tattoo fantasy set in the islands, is part of the group.

There's definitely a learning curve to 3d software (especially Blender, since it's so versatile). I still feel like a beginner, and I can't make my own models or textures yet.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I use Daz Studio for rendering, so I mostly shop through their website, but there's also Renderosity, CG Trader, and a lot of places that sell stuff for Blender 3D, if this is the software you use. Unity has its own market too, I think.

Loved the ones in the top row. The ones in the bottom row are high up on my list for this year.

I highly recommend Joanna's books if you love intricate plots, likeable characters, and fast-paced action.

Ready for an open world urban fantasy set in Dublin, Ireland? In the war, the mythborn killed her friends, but now humanborn Kaja needs to work with them to uncover a conspiracy or Dublin's streets will run red with blood once more. Less than a decade ago, the Magiclysm, a tear between Earth and another place, brought magic to Irelandβ€”and worse, it brought back the mythborn. The war that followed left Dublin scarred, and cursed Kaja Modrzewska with chaotic magic that will eventually claim her life. Struggling with wartime nightmares, Kaja seeks normalcy amongst the volatile peace working as an information broker when a series of explosions across Dublin threatens to reignite the war. Both sides are eager to blame the other, so Kaja reluctantly agrees to investigate. But finding the terrorists responsible means working alongside the mythborn’s elite killers, and uncomfortable wartime secrets coming to light. Kaja, who had saved a mythborn’s life during the war, finds out she has a life debt of her own, and as she juggles her allegiances and obligations, she’ll have to decide where her loyalties lie, with her old human allies or the mythborn.

Books in Shadows of Eireland series by Joanna Maciejewska and text:
It also provided an escape from the small talk during which I’d have to steer clear from any sensitive subject: the war, the mythborn, the Court… so, pretty much anything, unless we wanted to discuss the weather at lengths it most certainly didn’t deserve.

It seems that you might survive a magical cataclysm, survive a war with otherworldly species, and even survive Irish weather, but small talk is till a problem, especially when you're supposed to have a pleasant conversation with your former enemy…

For the past weeks, I've been busy working on art for Sanguine Scenario which I can't share just yet (but I promise the wait will be worth it!), so I didn't do much other 3d art. I still managed to sneak in a quick piece, "Betrayed," made just to test new and old products.

The photo shows four images of the same Roman iron stylus (pen) one below the other, with knib to the left. This stylus is octagonal in shape, with an inscription dot-punched along its length on four alternate sides. The stylus is 132 mm long and 5 mm thick, and the letters are circa 2 mm high. The four images of the pen show the four lines of inscribed text (highlighted) which read:

β€˜ab urbe v[e]n[i] munus tibi gratum adf(e)ro
acul[eat]um ut habe[a]s memor[ia]m nostra(m)
rogo si fortuna dar[e]t quo possem
largius ut longa via ceu sacculus est (v)acuus’

Translated as

β€˜I have come from the City. I bring you a welcome gift
with a sharp point that you may remember me.
I ask, if fortune allowed, that I might be able (to give)
as generously as the way is long (and) as my purse is empty.’

This inscription is generally interpreted by scholars as a humorous, tongue-in-cheek acknowledgment by the giver of the cheapness of the gift.

The pen was used to write on wax-filled wooden writing tablets. Found in London (Roman β€˜Londinium’) by MOLA, during excavations for Bloomberg’s European Headquarters in 2010–2014 . Photo by Juan Jose Fuldain for MOLA

Timeless humour!

A 2,000 year-old Roman souvenir pen with a joke inscription roughly equivalent to:

β€œI went to Rome and all I got you was this cheap pen!" πŸ˜‚

Dated circa 70 AD, this iron stylus pen was recovered in London during excavations by MOLA. πŸ“· Juan Jose Fuldain/MOLA

One of the 7464039 reasons for which I love my husband.
Me: There's something I really want.
Husband: What is it?
Me: Remember that special edition of Hyperion? Now they are doing the remaining three books in the series. It's going to be expensive...
Husband (without any hesitation): Get them.
