I think this cold is catching up with me. I feel kinda punky so I'm going to go back to bed. I got up specifically to participate in this chat. I love these writers chats. They're good and fun. See you next week, everyone!
eBay! I even found one in the U. S. where I live. I'd love to buy more, but most are in the U. K. Shipping from the U. K. and you-know-whos tariffs make that not worthwhile. I even got a substantial discount on the book. Whee! #WeeknightWriters

Check out The Horror Zine's latest issue. I'm Media Director. Includes a story by Elizabeth Massie, an article about how editors think, news on Women In Horror Month, and more!

Yup. If they weren't so cute... oh, yeah!
I love chaos gremlin. Such an apt term. ๐บ #WeeknightWriters

I just bought an 1892 issue of Strand Magazine for a great price. It's chock full of Sherlock Holmes stories including The Adventures of:
The Speckled Band
The Blue Carbuncle
The Engineer's Thumb
The Noble Bachelor
The Beryl Coronet
The Copper Beeches
I'm psyched!

Teach my kitten to NOT unravel the paper towels and toilet paper. He can be a hellion. Otherwise, just be here every Thursday. I love this group.
This is exactly what my kitten would do:
I heard the job market is rough right now. I hope you find a new job soon. Thanks for telling me what ko-fi is. I used to be on Patreon (I was a member of some groups) but I've since cancelled it. I'll look into ko-fi and see if it's a good fit for me. Thanks! #WeeknightWriters
I hope you're able to find your writing mojo for that second act. Good luck! #WeeknightWriters
Good luck! I wish you the best.
Massachusetts is lovely. We live on the northeastern coast. It's gorgeous here - lots of homes that date back to the 1800s. We used to rent one. I was disappointed it wasn't haunted. LOL
I'm sorry about the unemployment. That's hard to deal with, especially six months of it. Good luck with ko-fi, too. What exactly is ko-fi? I've heard of it, but I don't know what is it. #WeeknightWriters
Ooh, snowdrops! When I see them, I know spring is coming. Also, the juncos disappear as the weather warms. I love junkos. Little fun birds. #WeeknightWriters
Oh, no! I'm sorry about your job. Any bites yet from other companies and have you started looking yet?
Local parks are a joy. We have one but we normally don't walk on it. It also may be closed for the season. Should open again in a couple of weeks when spring hits. #WeeknightWriters
I don't normally listen to audiobooks, but one I enjoyed is The Sex Lives of Cannibals by J. Maarten Troost. It's quite funny & about the people living on the island of Kiribati. Enjoy the Jandy Nelson audiobook! #WeeknightWriters
Where do you walk? Once my hip has recovered from surgery, I hope to go for walks again. We live near some local beaches. They're great for walking. Saving money can be hard but oh so rewarding. #WeeknightWriters
#WeeknightWriters
First, get over this !@#$% cold. Then, survive hip surgery on Monday. I probably won't get much writing done. My birthday is a week from Saturday. Right after Friday the 13th. I want to go out for fried clams in two days. Early birthday dinner. ๐ซจ

Our kitten just unraveled an entire roll of paper towels. I tossed them since he was playing on them and ripping them up. I just rolled my eyes and came back to this chat. I also fed him. He's somewhat calm now. Somewhat. ๐บ
I met the late horror writer Tom Piccirilli who had lessons that taught everyone how to write a proper hook. You need to grab the reader within the first paragraph; even the first sentence. Start in the middle or end of the story and work your way backwards. #WeeknightWriters
Health care here in Massachusetts is phenomenal. We'd like to move when my husband retires, but things are better here than in some other states. We might stay put. Plus, we have local beaches! Water's far too cold to swim in, but we like to walk. #WeeknightWriters
I've been reading about all that & it's enraging since no one seems to be doing anything to stop this crap. History repeats itself. I read Project 2025. It's nothing new. The fundies and far right have been trying to pass that garbage since before the 1980s. Maybe before Nixon. #WeeknightWriters
Been there. ๐ Could you write scenes with action or dialogue? Avoid exposition. Something that moves the plot along could help. #WeeknightWriters
Thanks! I'm enjoying the writing and pitching. I go to Urgent Care tomorrow - in the snow. I don't want to postpone my surgery. #WeeknightWriters
Hmmm.... time to get Netflix. I'd love to see the rest of Bridgerton. A castle near me (a castle in New England!) is hosting a Bridgerton party. I'd love to go but the timing isn't right. #WeeknightWriters
Thanks! I'm a bit nervous, but the doc does these all the time. I have confidence in him. I also look forward to being able to walk without a limp and without pain. #WeeknightWriters
It's not uncommon for 1st drafts to be terrible. Try an outline of some of the story? I live in New England & when it's warmer I walk on the local beaches to run plot bunnies through my head. Try a change of location & think about your story. The change could help. #WeeknightWriters
The first season of Bridgerton & loved it. I haven't seen the other seasons since we don't stream that channel. Can't recall which one it is. Netflix, maybe?
I've been watching "Riot Women" on Britbox and it's fantastic. It's about some menopausal women starting a punk rock band. #WeeknightWriters
I used to write erotic fiction. Just tell the group what you write. You might be surprised. "Just plain" writers can be supportive and intrigued by something (esp. erotic fiction - assuming that's what you write) they haven't been exposed to. #WeeknightWriters

Working on my novel and pitching it to agents has brought me much joy. I'd been in a writing slump & this makes me feel better. I've also been sick so I won't be doing much for the rest of the week. Going in for hip surgery Monday. I want to walk on the beaches again!
Could you combine both being a pantser and a plotter? Maybe write a brief outline to set things right in your head. That might help you with your stories. #WeeknightWriters
