Winter Olympics 2026: Why 'Russia' won't be in Milan Cortina
Thirteen athletes from Russia will compete in Italy, but they will do so without flags, anthems or a place in the medal standings.

This is a valid question and one I asked. What I've been told is that the rate of down transfers has declined b/c there is more NIL money available to be the 10th man at a power-conference program than a starter at a mid.
Are there exceptions? Yes. But they're mostly unusually deep-pocketed mids.
