March 6, 2026 What it means to be a Woman No, I do not want roses or chocolate. I just want equal rights and equal pay. I do not want you to call me a princess. That's not the point of 'Women's Day'. A simple piece of jewellery is not enough. For our ancestors fought with their might. Because of the suffragists and suffragettes women have been granted a voting right. If you must gift me, I ask you for respect. Don't ever tell me to calm down or to smile. Marriage and kids shouldn't be my sole focus. I'm a warrior. I'm a woman. I'm worthwhile. ©Tania Carina Pires

February 27, 2026 Once Upon a Time When I look back on my childhood, I often wonder, 'How am I still alive?' An only child, I had to entertain myself. It wasn't easy at the tender age of five. Soon, it became a straightforward task. Mischief took over, I couldn't keep still. I just wanted to ride my imaginary horse. Both legs stretched over the windowsill. But the adults were in for a big surprise. The greatest act of all was yet to come. Nothing like you have ever seen before. I warn you, kids, don't try this at home. When adults were smoking around me. What were those things? Maybe food? I did not realise what they were doing. Soon I found out their taste wasn't good. I snuck into the bedroom. There they were! Can you believe it? A whole pack of them! I would finally know what they tasted like. I was rich! My precious! My secret gem! I chewed them up and I spat them out. The taste was horrendous! It was vile! Never again would I touch those things. Never again! They're not worthwhile. ©Tania Carina Pires
