I think in reading your post and the first reply, I just wanted to drop in this idea.
Here is a question I have been wrestling with: How do you present 5,000 years of history? What matters?

I should add, at the end of the course, we have about 40 1-slide presentations. Students choose three objects and respond to reflection questions. They love the whole process and it fortifies many of the thinking and application goals of my grade 11 course. I also observe and record learning skills.
Wonder Wednesday: Wed. of 5 day weeks, each pod of kids picks a card. They have to speculate, use historical thinking, etc. to try to identify the object. They then test their speculation by researching the object. Each pod presents by class end. I have 75 min classes.
I disagree.
Genesis 5:4 - Adam had other sons and daughters.
There is only one group of people who take the Bible at face value more than fundamentalists. Atheists.
My 10th grade students understand that these genealogies have poetic structure and purpose beyond a face value reading.
If you like to listen to audiobooks about the apostle Paul (and who doesn't?), the audiobook of *A Jewish Paul* just dropped!

Is there somewhere or someone keeping a tally of the farreaching negative outcomes, including loss of life due to these cuts?
Hearing from Community Partners International, which works from Myanmar to Bangladesh, that USAID cuts mean 14,000 people with HIV losing access to lifesaving meds and a total stop in all HIV and TB screening. So many people will die due to these chaotic, sudden, horrifically implemented cuts.
Talking in DC next Tuesday 25 Feb, at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Center. Free and open to all, but registration essential via QR code at bottom of this pic (or go to Krieger School website)
Two of our community schools are closing early today due to an impending snowfall. If a third makes a similar call, we two will close early.
I dont want to shovel snow, so I am a little torn.

I have had a @supernote.com Manta for almost a week now, and I wonder how I did my job before it became part of my routine. Early days yet, but it has been an excellent experience so far.
This tracks. I wonder how this information was collected.
Well, that's a semester done and dusted. I decided to have a bath. It has been a long time. #teacher

Back to school on Monday. There are no snow days on the forecast for the next two weeks. I'm trying to hype myself up for the last 8 class periods before exams.
Trends in Cognitive Sciences recently published an opinion piece on the threat of LLMs like ChatGPT making it easy for misinformation to be widely championed as accurate, which feeds misinformation back into the LLM, further institutionalizing the misinformation.
Our semester ends in January, and this week caps off a 5 week stretch of 5 day weeks. Kids are exhausted. Staff are exhausted. There are curriculum tied mocies in my near future.
National Pizza and Wings for better cheapish pizza in Hamilton. Excellent pizza can be found at Barda (Earth to Table Bread Bar).
It looks great. I have to look it up in Canada.
Two weeks of class left before Christmas break. Each day is a slog. Teachers dragging kids through the remaining projects and lessons while pretending like we aren't out of gas and ready to be on break, too. #teachers
Was there a customs duty? The A5X2 is shipping to reviewers later this month and could be available to order in Jan. I am stoked.
Congrats, Jason!
I just sent off my statement of purpose to a colleague for editing. Getting closer to a complete application to a PhD. program. Everything should be ready for Friday.
I'm excited but also nervous that I might actually get in.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 8 Ultra, which I like and will continue to use, but I am thinking about an #eink device for reading and annotation, hoping to take advantage of my commute and longer less fatiguing reading sessions. I will be doing a lot of reading and notetaking for school.
Worth it?
I also make sure to highlight the familial connection between Jabesh Gilead and Gibeah (of Saul) and later stories in Samuel.
Another thought. In my class, we read Ruth immediately after Judges. I ask my students about the warnings to Ruth by First Biaz, then Naomi to work in Boaz' field b/c her safety in other field was in doubt.
Some of them make the connection between the concubine in Judges who was from Bethlehem.
I'm invested now. Let me know what you find. ๐
I think they predate Islam, and may come from further east. Perhaps some clues can be found here.
