Historian, podcaster 'Dirty War in Dublin'; it is possible to disagree in good faith, but let's be honest we won't do it.

#OtD 8 Mar 1926 the largely female members of the Fur & Leather Workers' Union went on strike in New York City, enduring beatings by police. They won a 10% raise and a five-day week. Learn more about women's struggles throughout history: shop.workingclasshistory.com/collections/...

Lift up women’s voices.

This version of Bella Ciao was recorded last year in Farsi, Arabic, and Hebrew by the Jewish-Arab women’s choir Rana, based in Jaffa. It was first dedicated to the women of Iran, and later to all women living in war.

True. Although some of the more successful Irish online exports have piggy backed on anger over Gaza to push antisemitism

I think there's a kind of need for some people in Ireland to emulate everything about politics in the US and Britain; 'they've got a Zionist lobby' we want one too! 'Their far-right supports Israel, ours must too'! That Ireland is not America or Britain seems to elude people sometimes

I think it's partly because he directly criticised the club and appears to relish the conflict. But focusing anger over Gaza on one Irish ex-politician who happens to be Jewish is not the best tactical move, to put it mildly

Tzedakah Campaign 5786 Support Gaza Soup Kitchen

The people of Gaza continue to struggle for basic sustenance, particularly now that Israel has once again restricted the flow of aid during its attack on Iran. The Gaza Soup Kitchen is still doing all it can to feed and provide medical support to as many people a day as possible. Please help them.

There's enough well documented atrocities happening right now. I don't see why people have to invent ones.

Yeah this is far more serious. I find it hard to articulate clearly but I think there's something very risky for actual survivors in the way people casually trivialise horrendous crimes by throwing (obviously false) accusations around so readily

The Bohs banner stuff is weird all round. Hard to see what case Shatter has there legally, but also something extremely online and loserish to focus your protest on Shatter, a man with no power, significance or position of influence. So more broadly, yeah...

07.03.2026 11:21 πŸ‘ 16 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 3 πŸ“Œ 0

Shatter is a prick but he's got a point here unfortunately. As I've said before some soul-searching needed as to why people were so desperate for him to be in the Epstein files (he isn't)

Also in general people online have got WAY too comfortable calling people they don't like pedos imo

i love how everyone is just perfectly comfortable asserting as truth what is ultimately a conspiracy theory without a shred of substantive evidence to support it, particularly when it has jews at the center of it.

Considering that there are dozens of countries around the world established through settler colonialism, the idea that acknowledgment of that history leads to the dissolution of the "settler state" is patently unconvincing.

One problem with "settler colonialism" in regards to Zionism is that many supporters and opponents of the terminology believe it points to radical solutions and visions for the future - that "decolonisation" here necessarily means one-state solution or maybe even the "Algerian scenario".

Conspiracy-laden actions like this do nothing to protect the victims of Epstein's disgusting crimes and are designed mainly to foment hatred against Jews. Organizers and policymakers that want justice should call out and oppose these toxic, antisemitic tactics that are bound to lead to violence.

The reason the category of settler colonialism is so vital to the Palestine/Israel discussion is that you simply cannot understand contemporary Israeli policies without it, e.g. in West Bank. Otherwise people resort to talking about the problem as one of "fanatics" - and that's just unconvincing.

Everyone from tenant advocacy groups to REITs is saying this will increase rents and lead to evictions, and if anyone puts this to the government they get mad because again their primary motivation is to avoid any form of accountability for their decisions

This is inconceivable for the Irish government and their outriders... International law is not conditional on self-interest. It is also the case, as Alanna O'Malley argues in today's Irish Times, that multinationals won't leave behind their tax breaks because we defend international law.
