This arrangement is very similar to that which ended the 2006 war on Lebanon. But it deepens US footprint in Lebanon, as the US will deploy military advisers, give more funds to the Lebanese army, and head a committee to coordinate deployment of French peacekeepers.
👁️ Ceasefire will be monitored by UN peacekeepers, Lebanese army, and the IOF. It’ll also newly have US & French oversight. Lebanese army to deploy 5,000 troops south of the Litani river with 33 border positions.
🟡 Hezbollah Commitments: Hezbollah & allies will cease operations against Israel. Hezbollah will also withdraw to north of the Litani River (~30 km from border).
🪖 Israeli Commitments: No more attacks against Lebanese territory. Occupying Israeli forces will fully withdraw from Lebanon in phases.
⏰ Ceasefire began today. It gives both parties 60 days to gradually withdraw from south Lebanon and is designed to be a permanent ceasefire.

A ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah started today at 4am local time. The US, via its envoy Amos Hochstein (an ex-IOF soldier), brokered the deal.
