Six diverse volunteers folding pieces of paper into small informational packets called zines. Volunteers are standing and sitting around a table, smiling and laughing.
Piles of finished zines.
One of the very fun things we did yesterday at our @lwvwilco.bsky.social volunteer celebration: we made hundreds of zines to get info about the March 3 primary election in the community. LOVE THIS TEAM! #lwvwilco #vote #2026primary

Georgetown ISD made an excellent choice. We are grateful to all of our members who helped us campaign for this naming opportunity. We honor her legacy by doggedly registering and educating voters and fighting for democracy. #Lwvwilco #lwvtexas #vote #suffrage #GeorgetownISD
From GISD announcement: "Ames played a pivotal role in expanding voting rights for women locally and across Texas and later became a leading voice in the anti-lynching movement in the American South."
Jessie founded the Georgetown Equal Suffrage League in 1916. In the run-up to the 1918 primary election--the first time women were able to vote in Texas--she helped register 3,800 Wilco women to vote in just 17 days. She later became the first statewide president of the @lwvtexas.bsky.social

Two smiling people with light skin, both wearing dark sunglasses. Itβs a very sunny day. They are standing in front of a public library graced with a large hippo statue. They are both wearing stickers that say I voted early.
Spouse and I voted this morning. Get out there, Texas! #vote #voteearly #vote411
Picture of a table with stacks of completed yellow voter registration forms. A volunteer is sorting the forms into different piles.
2 perpetually silly women standing in front of a REGISTER TO VOTE HERE sign. One woman wears a sun hat with lots of voting related buttons. She has light skin and sunglasses and is smiling. The other woman is wearing a VOTE baseball cap and sunglasses. She is sticking her tongue out like she belongs in a metal band. Itβs clear they have been friends for years.
My job at #NoKings in Austin yesterday was registering voters and engaging people to volunteer with LWV. Estimated crowd of 30K. We had several orgs registering voters. Our table registered 130. Shout out to the organizers! This was a peaceful event, very well run.
