beautiful ... but ... data ink ratio is poor. hard to compare the figures across importers, and across exporters.
According to official birth registry data, in 1981 Spain had the highest sex ratio in the world (109 boys per 100 girls). Prior work attributed this anomaly to demographic/behavioural patterns. In a new WP, we show the high ratio is due to data errors 🧵with Manuel Bagues 1/n
Me, to my 8 year old, desperately trying to get her to bed:
– You talk too much!
(not my proudest dad moment)
She almost instantly replies:
– Well, thank you!
I think I am raising her well.

Interesting. how do you do the unfamiliar location bit? and time pressure you manufacture it yourself (or is it related to location) ?
Idle thought: Is there already a Strava "clone" based on atproto?
Absolutely savage, I love it.

Oh! I spent many hours the past few weeks creating tools for outrigger canoe racing, a cousin of dragon boating. Too bad I missed it.
+1 Excellent! But it will break ... so ... much ... code ... :)
I sometimes feel the same way. I've been burned for overreaching more than once. However, when you have a purpose, even the parts of the work that you don't enjoy as much or at all become easier. Do it!

And it's fucking addictive. Gotta use it with care. Or your "productivity" bump will he over ... fast. I am just glad my plan has a low limit for my personal (non-money-making) projects.
Na moral, isso não é problema digno de notícia.
"I cancelled my #Claudecode subscription. I have a tendency to fixate on things and overdo it. Most of the time I can manage and keep things mostly under control, but this has the potential to do #realdamage. Worst of all, I wouldn't have anything to show for it at the end. #Codingagents have a […]
I merged a PR for mirai today (fixing an esoteric bug), that came with a performance boost that I'd never have thought existed. That means that on my laptop, the default (with dispatcher) round-trip performance now dips into sub-100 microseconds territory!! Get it now: `pak::pak("r-lib/mirai")`
I give talks where I talk about reproducibility with #Nix for #RStats users (mostly researchers), any such user groups of #Python practitioners I could talk to as well?
