"The cavalry's European not American" headlined letter that appeared in the Hull Daily 7 March 2026. The writer says that, although Britain does have a tariff-free deal with the European Union following Brexit, the “rules of origin” paperwork still makes it costly and difficult for UK firms to trade with the EU. Furthermore, they don’t benefit from competitive trade deals that the EU is able to negotiate with other countries.

The UK still has a tariff-free deal with the #EU, but it’s
buried British firms under mountains of #Brexit bureaucracy and "rules of origin" red tape, says @hulldailymail.co.uk letter.

Meanwhile, EU's securing massive new deals without us #Mercosur

#RejoinEU = easier trade & more global muscle.

We all remember the scenes at the Sunderland Brexit Referendum count and that the city voted to leave. Could that be coming back to bite them? If the proposed “Made in Europe” rules exclude the UK Autocar reports Nissan Sunderland will close.

Chair @leedsblue67.bsky.social responds in Hull Daily Mail (5 March) to claims that #LeedsForEurope and other #RejoinEU groups are “biased”.

If you’re looking for real misinformation about #Brexit, Peter suggests examining parts of the press and certain opaque “think tanks”.

The first is headed “We need to be a member of Creative Europe and urges the Government to rejoin the 41-member Creative Europe programme – something that would release funds for the UK creative sector. The second headlined “Exporters exposed” is by Jas Olak, Vice Chair of Leeds for Europe. It says global uncertainties make better European Union relations “simply common sense”.

: A letter headed “Get Brexit story straight” published in the Telegraph & Argus (Bradford) on 28 February 2026. The writer says Brexit supporters make many new, often contradictory claims to justify leaving the European Union. They do this because all the promises made at the time of the Brexit referendum in 2016 have been broken.

"The problem Brexiters have is all the promises made to voters 10 years ago have been broken" - letter in today's #Bradford Telegraph & Argus.

They make excuses to justify #Brexit: "Often what's delivered is the opposite of the promises. Look at immigration, public services & red tape."

@bradfordtanda.bsky.social letter says old, broken #Brexit promises won't work anymore.

So Brexiters make spurious - often contradictory - new excuses to keep us out of #EuropeanUnion. Suitable venue suggested for meeting where they can meet & thrash out differences.

This letter headed "Still suffering" appeared in The Yorkshire Post on 26 February 2026. The writer argues that, contrary to what an earlier correspondent maintained, the UK is not perfect on the issue on animal welfare in farming. Membership of the European Union meant UK activists could campaign for better standards across the continent, but post-Brexit trade deals means have to accept cheap imports from much further afield.

Membership of the #EuropeanUnion meant British animal welfare campaigners could fight for higher farming standards across the continent, says a @yorkshirepost.co.uk letter.

Now #Brexit means trade deals exposing UK farmers to cheap imports.

Is #Brexit rubbish? Well, only 11% say it’s more of a success than failure (bestforbritain.org , Sept 2025).

The latest What UK Thinks poll of polls records that 58% of voters think it was wrong to leave the EU 📈 whilst only 30% think it was right📉

The largest margin ever and if it was for a 10 propaganda campaign by the right wing Brexit media 🗞️ it would be even greater.

Letter headed "Interference by Russia must not be skipped", which appeared in The Yorkshire Post on 21 February 2026. Peter Packham, Chair of Leeds for Europe, says the Rycroft Review into foreign financial influence in British politics - due to be published in March 2026 - would have been an opportunity to address concerns about Russian interference in the 2016 Brexit referendum. However, the UK government has already ruled this issue is outside the review's remit.
