Preprint!!!! This is the result of an ongoing collaboration between us and the genomics core to make genetics cheap and easy. A synergy between library prep and analytical approaches. This one hinges on recognizing 1. that DNA molecules are shaped by evolution and 2. we have friends everywhere.
Hey #PopGen #EEB #PUI friends! Do you have a cool paper demonstrating the power 💪 of "modern" PopGen that would be exciting to upper-level undergrads? I feel like students leave the PopGen unit thinking it's some kind of dead science b/c we're limited to introducing simple models in Evol classes. 😢

Grad student in lab just had their GRFP returned without review. But their proposal is not on ag/crops/health. What gives?? 😡
Anyone dealt with challenging an "Ineligible" determination on a GRFP proposal?
A student's proposed was DQ'ed stating: "Applicants must select research in eligible STEM or STEM education fields."

Just spoke to The Hill about how the dismantling of the NIH is impacting science in America. We still face a cliff of unfathomable heights, w easily 1000+ labs poised to close in the next year due to funding ending. A generation of young scientists lost because there is nowhere for them to train.
This new #OpenAccess commentary by Hu et al. examines the many roles of signaling peptides in #plant #growth, #development and #environmental adaptation, and explores their potential application in #crop breeding strategies.
