(4/4) It is very #exciting to post this, Thank you to all co-authors @catzigle.bsky.social, @domspracklen.bsky.social, @pippachapmn.bsky.social, John Crawford, Alec Pue, Rob Mills, Tamba Komba and Robyn Wrigley.
(3/4) Our analysis showed that the highest-density planting in #SnaizeholmeValley was targeted in areas with estimated #soil #carbonstocks around 20β―tβ―Cβ―haβ»ΒΉ lower than the unplanted areas. Itβs an example of how strategic woodland design can safeguard important soil #carbonstocks.
(2/4) Snaizeholme Valley is one of the largest upland woodland creation projects in the #YorkshireDales, forming a part of the #WhiteRoseForest #NorthernForest. Its carefully planned tree planting is designed to boost #naturerecovery, and #climatechange mitigation benefits at a landscape scale.
(1/4) Our new study in @aer-ese-bes.bsky.social shows that well designed upland #woodlandcreation can avoid high #soilcarbon soils, a key aim of the #WoodlandTrust woodland creation guide principles and UKFS guidance. dx.doi.org/10.1002/2688...
