Great news they are extending the deadline. I've presented as BAAL Health & Science SIG and each time it's been a very warm and welcoming environment, that encourages the sharing of ideas. Good first conference to present at for #GraduateStudents and it's online!

We Let AI Run Our Office Vending Machine. It Lost Hundreds of Dollars. An AI agent ran a snack operation in the WSJ newsroom. It gave away a free PlayStation, ordered a live fishβ€”and taught us lessons about the future of AI.

Gift link, probably the funniest thing the Wall Street Journal has done this year.

Color Taste Texture by Matthew Broberg-Moffitt: 9780593538593 | PenguinRandomHouse.com: Books An accessible familyΒ cookbook that offers solutions rather than tricks to empower the food-averse, autistic, andΒ picky eater, with 46 recipes. This much-needed cookbook combines tips and techniques.....

I’m an Autistic classically trained chef and I wrote a food aversion acceptance cookbook and guide titled COLOR TASTE TEXTURE, that’s all about finding out what works for specific sensory needs and how to customize food for them. It’s useful for all ages, no cooking experience necessary.

A close up photograph of a printed page titled β€œLet People Be” centred at the top in red text. Beneath the title is a thin red horizontal line. The main body of text is printed in black on textured off white paper and every line is highlighted in bright yellow. The highlighted section reads: β€œYou know what’s underrated? Letting people be. Letting them mispronounce a word, talk too much about a show they love, or get excited about something you don’t understand. You don’t have to get it, just be kind. Everyone’s got something that lights them up. Let them shine, even if it’s not your thing.”

β€œTreat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them become what they are capable of being.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

There’s something magical about letting people be.

Letting them shine in the ways that make sense to them.

I've cited some research papers that used TikTok as their source that analysed what the creators were talking about. I don't know of a way to use it to track any meaningful demographics of viewers though. What were you thinking to use it for?

A bar chart with horizontal stacked bars in maroon and gold showing that most Americans see news they think is inaccurate, and about half say it’s tough to know what is true

Nine-in-ten U.S. adults say they at least sometimes come across news they think is inaccurate, but they are split over how easy it is to distinguish truth from fiction. www.pewresearch.org/...

Rural Basic Income Pilot Launches in Seven Counties Seven counties, including Yeoncheon in Gyeonggi Province, Jeongseon in Gangwon Province, Cheongyang in South Chungcheong Province, Sunchang in North Jeolla Pro

South Korea has just launched a HUGE universal basic income pilot focused on rural areas. Around 220,000 people will receive 150,000 won a month for two years in 7 counties.

A similar pilot in the US would cost $1 billion and provide $180 a month to all of Wyoming outside of Cheyenne and Casper.

How America Got Hooked on Ultraprocessed Foods (Gift Article) They promised convenience and cheap nutrition. But they became one of the greatest health threats of our time.

For our good night we are sharing this great piece on the history of processed food in America. We agree with the 🧠πŸͺ± on this - the American diet of processed foods is trash. But we don’t blame you, we blame Big Ag and Big Food who are as bad as Big Tobacco.

Good night!
