Would this be the same Iran conflict Kemi Badenoch has just spent an entire week calling Keir Starmer a coward for not wanting to join?

Economic Migrant from beyond the pale. ‘Elitist’: I function from the neck up. Book reader (& writer). The day job is Criminologist, but I’m really a student of justice. An ‘elitist’ is anyone who can function from the neck up, according to populists.

Big Pharma using Trump to force NHS to pay more for drugs by breaking drugs deals NHS struck with the industry. Pharma saying U.K. deters innovation. If Pharma want more profits, then U.K. gov should stipulate £billions for R&D in Britain from them. Put me on the negotiating team.

I'm back from a week off, anything happen while I was away?
Oh yeah, that. Well fortunately Naomi Bethune has supplied for me an entire history of U.S. intervention in Iran. Something to share with your underinformed friends:

Too right.

Do Irish readers of the mail have any idea what the Mail newspaper, its proprietor and most of its readers think of the Irish? Thought not.
You can if you’re a Zombie newspaper with Zombie readers.
"What has changed is not the harm women face, but the interpretive strategies used to acknowledge – or deny – it." @catbriddick.bsky.social yesterday on #InternationalWomensDay ⤵️
The ‘shred of humanity’ bit is especially egregious.
This is my wife Bunty and I visiting the village shop after watching Chris Philp’s latest message to the nation.😳

Thanks for bringing some clarity to the situation. Following.

The enemy gets a vote. Iran is now delivering pain to Trump via multiple paths
(1) Gulf Kings
(2) Financial meltdown
(3) AI tech oligarchs
(4) Fuel, fertilizer, food disruptions

The complacency of it:’short war’ with few consequences and ‘US well insulated’. These people are responsible for the economy? The only thing insulated here is their smugness.
The right celebrating Trumps latest put down of Starmer….
Salivating at a peadophile trashing a democratically elected PM because we won’t do exactly what he wants us to do is not a good look for Tories and Reform…
However this from Polanski is also utterly ridiculous

That’s a shame. I was trying to engage. Oh well.
Which probably makes me swerve when I come across ‘patriotism’ and flag waving. I’m Irish: we know what damage militant patriotism can do. national identity must always be bracketed with constraints: your nationhood is not better than that of others; should not delegitimate or trump others.
But, what one does with ‘love’ (a transformative force indeed) is material. Not the warm feeling, but the firmness of purpose, inclusion and clarity of goals. ‘Love’ of others/country is not unconditional. I will not embrace false patriots, ethnonationalists, haters, the militant or power hungry.
‘Love of country’ isn’t enough to save your country. I don’t think you disagree. Love of country is also claimed by those who would shoot us in the face. That’s the limits of ‘patriotism’. It may be an abstract good. I subscribe to abstract foods myself- solidarity, society, culture and place.
Ok, let’s compare with Europe. U.K. petrol = £1.35 p litre or £6.75 5l/ gallon. France €1.80 litre €9 5l/gallon. Germany €2/€10. Currency conversion U.K. gallon of gas = $9. France $10.40, Germany = $11.56. You’ve loads of headroom, Americans. Maybe that lovely Venezuelan oil will ease the pain.
Love of country 🤔 Yet, one third of your co-citizens profess to love an entirely different America - White, authoritarian, theocratic, militaristic and violent. Another third sit on their hands and declare themselves too politically pure for current realities. Patriotism is a dangerous roulette.
Of course you must bear witness. Me too. It must be told in the face of denial.
Unfortunately for millions of Europeans, qualified workers NOT WELCOME in European countries if they are Black, Asian, Latino or Indian heritage, are Muslims or not Christians, or aren’t ‘Caucasian’. Racism in Europe is hastening decline.

There’s no telling people who do not wish to know. Look at any country which had detention and concentration camps in their localities, the edges of their towns. From South Africa to Uganda, Russia to Germany, North Korea to USA, denial then, denial now.
Own up here @skybluenews.bsky.social, you criticised Blair incessantly for the Iraq war decisions he made and now you sorta want to sit on the fence over Iran! 😡
Stop exposing your right wing bias. Have some honesty, take a position and stick to it, so support Starmer in his stance.
The joys of being Generals of the Armchair Militia. Starmer is a warmonger for preparing U.K. navy to sail to bases where British personnel are stationed AND AT THE SAME TIME Starmer is a peacenik dove because the British Navy isn’t already in the thick of combat.

If you revel in war you are celebrating death on a mass scale. If you support this, you support a death cult. Bombshell don’t care if you don’t believe in politics- sorry.
