Memorials, campaigns and a national day all exist, yet agreement on what should be remembered remains elusive.
that is wonderful
I looked up the original Lancet article and deliciously it referenced an earlier one. Learn more about the unhealthy, unjustified source of mischief of reading in bed.
Source: The Lancet, 8 Dec 1888, p1145-6 (Annotations)
Was surprised to see reports today of rising binge drinking among young adults. But the comparison is current 23 year-olds with themselves when they were 17, not with any previous generation. So we've no idea if binge drinking *in 23 year-olds* is rising or not.

Boo, I laugh in the face of your so called rules!
Haha, love that! And thanks for doing the fact check π
1908: the Lancet, one of the most respected scientific journals, calls for 18 age limit on reading in bed amidst a moral panic surrounding children becoming "addicted" to novels, which were "designed to keep kids hooked" and destroy their attention/mental health

Me also, what a shame
Lewisham will be very interesting I think (perhaps just to me!) - we could see a return to a much more split council like we had in 2006 (how is that 20 years ago?!)
okay, here it is, the five key takeaways from this by-election:
1. Denton Kebab House
2. The Crispy Cod, Denton
3. Reddish Tandoori, Gorton
4. Cottage Chippy, Gorton
5. The Continental Takeaway, Denton
was discussing this morning whether the Greens have enough activists to field full slates everywhere...
yes!!
My radio responded to this by eventually simply refusing to work. Too much Moyles.
A spoof Allister Heath Telegraph headline: "Allister Heath The civil service Blob is using the wankers who can't afford meths to stage a Marxist coup"
I really need to get back to work.
This is basically why, at least in medicine, I think it's a fool's errand to pretend like we are estimating effects. I think it's much more realistic to frame it as evaluating claims, and accepting that at some point residual uncertainty will have to be left to clinical judgement.
This recent RCT of an "AI stethoscope" claims the technology "shows promise" for diagnosing cardiovascular conditions.
It does not.
It is a textbook example of the risks of conducting unprincipled 'per protocol analyses'. Once again, peer review at a major medical journal has failed.

I tried to tell y'all.
Definitely Maybe is definitely not Oasis's best album. That is What's the story morning glory. And by a long way! Why are politicians so rubbish at answering pop culture questions even when they are about 30 year old bands?
