π€ Together, this work adds to the growing evidence base for advancing SAAP-148, other HDPs, and halicin for antibacterial therapy against AMR strains, both in combination and sequential therapy #AntibioticAlternatives
π‘ When assessing the combination of preventative SAAP-148 and post-infection halicin treatment in these cultures, I also found that SAAP-148 and halicin only acted synergistically in skin but not in lung tissue (still beneficial though!) #CombinationTherapy #SequentialTreatment
π¬ I expanded on this: instead using SAAP-148 as a preventative against AMR bacteria, applied in both HSEs and lung tissue cultures (PBECs). SAAP-148's activity was limited in PBECs against AMR bacteria, while active in HSEs due to the peptide being retained in cells
