Another beautiful #aurora last night. We were lucky that the cloud cleared long enough to take some photographs.

Parrots in general are my favourite birds, with Bourke's parrots my favourite parrot by a narrow margin. Lorrikeets in general are my least favourite parrots: loud, messy, gaudy and so bitey.

Misconceptions and Set-Points
For decades, the concept of a thermoregulatory "set-point" has been a cornerstone of physiological research, yet its definition and application remain surprisingly inconsistent across disciplines. Our recent study, spear-headed by the inimitable Dr. Duncan Mitchell,β¦
The next in our series on revisiting concepts of thermal physiology, expertly driven by @duncanmitchellwits.bsky.social - what does set-point really mean, how does negative feedback operate? onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
A faint but pretty #AuroraAustralis photographed early last Sunday morning in the Perth Hills
#Comet C/2024 G3 Atlas (or at least its tail) is still visible here in the #southernhemisphere. Clearly seen by eye and spectacular with binoculars I enjoyed photographing it over a #saltlake in the WA wheatbelt.
Excited to have our #numbat paper and photo featured in the 2025 @jexpbiol.bsky.social calendar
