Shameless self promotion of our new paper. So very excited to share our new work uncovering coupling of glutamate receptors ⚑️and RTKs to enable growth of low-grade gliomas 🧠 @gutmannlab.bsky.social @washuneurology.bsky.social

Aberrant coupling of glutamate and tyrosine kinase receptors enables neuronal control of brain-tumor growth Anastasaki and colleagues establish a previously unknown glutamate growth dependency in pediatric low-grade brain tumors (gliomas). Glioma cells hijack normal neuron-glial molecular circuits present during neurodevelopment, using aberrant glutamate receptor stimulation to activate PDGFRΞ±/ERK via Src. This uncovers a molecular link between neurotransmitter signaling and tumor growth in children.

Today, we celebrate the journey of two amazing trainees in the lab. They have great things coming into their future, and we are equally sad and proud to see them go. Wherever their paths may take them, the Gutmann lab will always be their home.
Good luck, Laura and Xuanwei!
