Vital journalism critically examining research results (rather than regurgitating than without any thought for their validity)
How is it helpful to collapse data from 29 countries as varied as India to Belgium, and say it represents the beliefs of a universal, amorphous Gen Z man?
How is it helpful to collapse data from 29 countries as varied as India to Belgium, and say it represents the beliefs of a universal, amorphous Gen Z man?
That big scary survey about Gen Z men being more regressive than Boomers is so flawed. An image of young men is being manufactured in the media and we should be very concerned about that.
Why do pollsters keep doing this???
For example: This is in response to a man saying that his family left Iran because every single male family member was imprisoned, some were executed and one was beat to death.
Incredible how quickly people forget that it's not only the US that produces propaganda.
Maybe I'm naive but it's been shocking to see the vicious undermining and accusations flung at Iranians this week. Unfortunately the people who *really* need to hear what Hessom Razavi tells me in this episode just won't hear it.

Vindication for ME once again!
New piece in @theipaper.com on my sadness at SEND children and families just being seen as a column in a spreadsheet that's got too big.

From me: The architect of the Robodebt scheme, who was told it was unlawful even as he delivered it for the government, is still employed in the public service, now at the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions. And in a senior governance and risk role. www.crikey.com.au/2026/02/20/r...
On the Cut Through pod today with my pal @cameronwilson.bsky.social talking about the all-seeing eye of Palantir ποΈ a key pillar of the "tech right" which Aus currently holds a $100m stake in. Fun #auspol

Wednesday's cartoon in The Mercury Newspaper: Jon Kudelka helped me get my first cartooning job at The Mercury. He also showed me how to be quick-witted and fearless. I was in a constant state of joke-envy over his cartoons. I'm gonna miss that feeling, but more than that, I'm gonna miss my friend.
Great work by @daanysaeed.bsky.social capturing just how confusing directions were in Sydney last night #auspol
Huge get
Jon Kudelka cartoon for Tasmanian Inquirer to accompany an article on political donations reform for local government. The cartoon shows a rubbish truck labelled 'donations' emptying a sidewalk bin with a bystander saying "Sure, it's a bit of a loophole, but it does make bin night a bit more of an event ..."
Jon Kudelka cartoon for Tasmanian Inquirer to accompany an article on political donations reform in Tasmania. The Integrity Commission and many civil society groups wanted all donations over $1000 disclosed. The Liberal government wanted the threshold set at $5000. The cartoon shows two men in suits & dark sunglasses and each is pushing an empty shopping trolley in a store. Behind them is a box labelled "Lettuce's $999.95 each". One of the men asked the other "How much political influence could you possible buy for a thousand bucks these days?" To which the other responds, "I expect that's the point"
Jon Kudelka cartoon for Tasmanian Inquirer to accompany an article on political donations reform. Two people are sitting in an underground vault with a big bag of money falling from a chute in the ceiling. The bag is about to land in a wheelbarrow already heavily loaded with bags of money. The man said to the woman sitting next to him, "Of course, the tricky bit with donation reform is, and I'm aware we can't say this part out loud, not upsetting the donors".
Vale Jon Kudelka @kudelka.bsky.social and deepest condolences to family and friends
We were honoured to have Jon draw 3 cartoons for a series of articles we published on political donations reform in Tasmania #auspol #politas
Thank you Jon
An enormous loss for Australia, and a Tasmanian legend. Farewell Jon, you will be long remembered.
