A falseβcolour satellite image of Dhaka from 2017 showing a dense river network in dark blue and black winding through the city. The surrounding land appears mostly red, indicating vegetation in infrared imagery, with scattered green and brown patches representing urban areas and less vegetated surfaces. The rivers form branching channels and curves across the landscape
A falseβcolour satellite image of Dhaka from 2026 showing the same river system, with dark blue and black waterways cutting through a landscape dominated by red vegetation tones. Some areas appear more intensely coloured or expanded compared to 2017, with green and brown patches marking builtβup or sparsely vegetated zones. The river branches and floodplain patterns remain clearly visible.
These two views from Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites reveal the landscape transformation in the area around Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

Can you spot the changes around the city?

The government must know this line is nonsense. Yet still keep repeating it.
Nine river walks & three forests won't change the postcode lottery on access to nature. Even where these initiatives are happening they're so far only upgrading the existing infrastructure, not creating new access at all.

"The sprint to clean energy is the only way to get off the volatile international fossil fuels markets, cut bills & deliver energy security"
Fair play to Starmer - this is exactly right. Meanwhile, Badenoch & Farage would have us hooked on more fossil fuels

Spot on Alex. Also, most of the media seems to be parroting Trumps comparison of Starmer to Winston Churchill with out any critique of Trump himself. Very poor journalism.
I particularly resent rags like Daily Mail gleefully reporting Trumpβs bullying of Starmer. Itβs disloyal and hypocritical - theyβd be screaming from rooftops if U.K. meekly followed European diktats, yet would have us unquestioningly kowtow to Trump. Starmerβs task is incredibly difficult.

The Middle East accounts for approximately 40% to 50% of the traded volume of nitrogen fertiliser used by many farmers. Much passes via the Strait of Hormuz.
Deepdale Farm has shown a way to be more resilient to climate and economic shocks. They use natural fertiliser courtesy of sheep.

Well said Robert. It may look good, but is it real.
FWIW I think AI upscaling of satellite imagery is inherently unethical. If the information is in the data, itβs in the data. Applying a statistical model that blends information from other sources is always at risk of adding detail that doesnβt exist.
The best @thenewsagents.co.uk clip I've seen in ages. Well said. Can we get some honesty on the mainstream media!

But is it Donald Trump who's doing the damage?

If we are serious about breaking down trade barriers and restoring growth, Single Market access has to be on the table.
