Nephew, I think so, there's a live Facebook feed but I can't access it as I deleted socials a while ago. I know he hasn't prepared 'much!'

Oh, wow, really? Did he say it was hard? My nephew decided on a whim. He's ridiculously adventurous. His tales of what he got up to in India last year had me sweating. He has zero preparation for the mountain β°οΈ but the fecker always lands on his feet. Kudos to your brother π

Love my two bro-in-laws Jamie & Andrew; really funny, very funky and total gentlemen. The start of the long #PubCrawl towards Aviva...
Hey #writingcommunity and #booksky, I really need your help to get my 90s thriller/horror novel out into the world. Iβm almost at 2/3 of the pre-order goal needed for Inkshares to publish the book! Read a preview, pre-order if you can, and please repost! #art #writing #amwriting

Amazing π π€© π πΎ it's an extraordinary book, really.
So delighted to be on the longlist for the @womensprize.bsky.social.
Massive congrats Kit & Wendy!
Delighted to see @kitdewaal.com and @wednesdayerskin.bsky.social amongst the sixteen incredible authors on the @womensprize.bsky.social for Fiction longlist
I get so excited when this geezer publishes *anything*. His writing is crazy-beautiful and completely spellbinding. He's also a genius in how he plays with the reader's head. I haven't read this new novel yet, but I'll be eating it for breakfast, along with my quorn sausages, very soon.
Submissions for Gorse 15 close this Friday. Have a goo below at the chosen theme! My Mrs complains that people don't always look at the theme, though interpretation is loose as a rabbit in July. It's an 'experimental' literary journal, which obviously means the writing should do just that! #Brazen

Sounds interesting.
In two days my madcap nephew is off to climb Kilimanjaro to raise funds for cancer. His dad (my brother Adrian) died at age 47 from the disease. Wishing #Jake huge luck on his quest (and for a safe return home!) If you can donate (even a quid) that would be brillo. www.justgiving.com/page/jakes-k...
Happy Publication Day Barbara Byar for #InTheDesert! There's a great interview here with Barbara and Jennifer from @frazzledlit.bsky.social

Yeah, I think it's my favourite so far. Though I say that for every issue. I really love this one! Your illustration is amazing btw.
#gorse12 (Language is a virus) has just arrived in the house from the printers and I flick open on this illustration by @badaude.bsky.social! Lord, it must be a sign that the world will survive after all π
βSomerset Maugham said that it took at least six human beings to make one fictional character. That is true of landscape as well, I think. We have to make our landscapes, change streets, create new turnings, rebuild or tear down.β βMary Lee Settle

The enduring #mystery of Liadan NΓ Chuinn - one of four nominated for *The Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year* - who's chosen through publication & beyond to remain totally anonymous. Apart from being non-binary, all we know is they're under 35. Whatever the feck, their writing is π―% top-notch.
I've read Barbara Byar's @barbarabyar.bsky.social novel IN THE DESERT, was in fact one of the very first readers, even before the first draft was completed, and it is totally stunning piece of literary fiction. Read it, and you will love it! And you will never have read another book like it!
Re U-turn/Sticking plaster on SNAs - government is supposed to have a disability unit to coordinate efforts and policy on disability across all depts. Time and again they get it wrong and still disabled people donβt have the services they need are are legally entitled to.
For me, it's always 'voice", and theirs is so quietly elevated and odd, first person narration without the generic kind we all fuck around with (that somehow sounds the same!). I was so impressed and excited when I read them. And even more respect by their opting out of the lit gladiator pit!
