This is true, for the most part, but certain scientifically rigorous designs can most definitely be unethical.

Of course. What is scientifically most rigorous is sometimes unethical.
Absolutely we will.
There is precedent for sham surgical procedures as placebo. The use of stem cells to treat Parkinson's disease was subjected to sham procedure in a placebo-controlled clinical trial. However, the sham surgical procedure was less invasive, and even then the ethics were dicey at best.
I see what Max did there.π
Editors of @thelancet.com published an op-ed decrying RFK Jr.βs year of failure at @hhsofficial.bsky.social. Theyβre correct about RFK Jr. but are not blameless for the devastation that he is wreaking on US public health, medicine, and biomedical research. sciencebasedmedicine.org/one-year-of-...

Itβs rather easy, actually. This guy linked to his Grok answer.π
So now an antivaxxer is emailing my work address with his Grok-penned arguments. Is this what I'm going to have to put up with now? Antivax harassment by AI slop?
Quelle surprise. COVID-19 quacks and antivaxxers are getting into the low dose naltrexone grift. www.thefocalpoints.com/p/low-dose-n...
I second that request.
Vinay Prasad was respectable before the pandemic. So was Marty Makary. You might not like it, but they were considered so.
And, of course, the protagonist will be patterned after Podcast Jay.π€’
I thought it was The Onion when I first saw the headline.

Respectable physicians and scientists either fawned over RFK Jr. or, almost as bad, deluded themselves into ignoring all the quackery and antivax conspiracy theories at the heart of MAHA because they liked the idea of better diet and lifestyle to combat chronic diseases. Too bad MAHA is a con job.
My reaction exactly.
Podcast Jay wonβt be running CDC, either. Heβll just be the figurehead for RFK Jr.βs dismantling of federal public health and vaccine programs. Podcast Jay is incompetent at actually running anything, but he can serve as a figurehead for the destruction of US public health and biomedical science.
Podcast Jayβs appointment as interim director of the CDC is yet more evidence that he was never in charge of NIH. Memoli and Vought are. They donβt need him there, other than as a figurehead for converting the NIH into the βresearchβ institute for MAHA and a mechanism for political patronage.
Most rib fractures heal on their own, and heβll attribute his healing to the homeopathy.
The exhibition hall at this confab was educational. Knowing what came next over the next 14 years, I now find all the gold scams, NWO conspiracy theories, prepper stuff, and supplements hawking to have been quaint, but unfortunately prescient, and I didnβt see it at the time.
