My parents just moved from Minnesota to New York and (being lifelong Minnesotans) very politely did not say anything when their new neighbors were complaining about the cold at 20 degrees *above* zero, but did relate the story to us
To any ICE agents reading this who are from down south—you have never experienced anything like this cold. Our European climate equivalent is literally Stalingrad. It will hurt to breathe. You will be outside in it. So will we, but we are used to it.
Next week is what will break you.

Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a constituent from [City, State]. I’m calling to urge Senator [Name] to vote YES on the War Powers Resolution. Congress, not the President, has the constitutional authority to declare war, and this resolution is essential to restoring that balance of power. We cannot allow unauthorized military actions to continue without congressional approval or oversight. A “yes” vote is a vote for accountability, diplomacy, and upholding the Constitution. Please let Senator [Name] know that their constituents expect them to support this resolution. Thank you for taking my call.
An official NYT response means this is clearly a sore spot for them and people should keep hitting the target

Aquarium/terrarium pro tip: if they’ve gone to the trouble of putting a picture of a lizard or a fish on it, they will triple the price of the item compared to what it is at the hardware store.
The situation with animated GIFs and alt text is complicated on this website.
Let's start with the most basic thing to know:
the best practice approach to animated GIFs is the same as for other images (files ending in .gif, .jpg, .png, .bmp, .tiff, etc., but—importantly—not video files).
Art by Gustav Klimt. Painting of a swamp.
The sjoufert is a fiery ghost in Flemish folklore who often appears near swamps. In one tale, people who lived near a swamp whistled at him. They fled into their house as the very angry ghost flew behind them. He left four paw prints on their door that never disappeared.

The moral of the story is that there are jobs for artists, real actual careers, a lot of them. If that is what you are good at, pursue it.
All of us had tried pursuing different fields (tech, publishing, manufacturing) because “everybody knows” that being an artist isn’t a real job. And all of us realized that we were miserable and needed to do what we were good at instead… and we all succeeded!
