"Mornin' Sam"
'Morning Ralph'.

YOU DM, I BLOCK. On Gunditjmara land. Old unsociable grumpy leftie (both handed and politically). Cancer survivor (so far). Recently retired. Gender is not genitalia, and neither of them has anything to do with sexuality.π Slava Ukraini.
"Mornin' Sam"
'Morning Ralph'.
Mate, I uploaded my medical certificate again and will see if I get my payment in the morning. If not, they will be dealing with a very grumpy old man in their office.
Patrick Stewart in roman Armour (and a curly wig) as the villainous Sejanis in the 1977 BBC production of I Claudius.
Oh yes, Patrick Stewart was in it, as the villainous Sejanus.
Is he leaving Parliament, or just going to the backbenches? In either case if he'd done this 4 months ago, the coalition would be in a better and stronger place than they are now.
True, but [self righteous Sky News voice] "Is that what the Nationals need to defeat the weak woke cancel culture socialists?" [end Sky News voice]
While I live, I shall try to ensure my family remember Danny Kaye if only so we can swap quotes.
"The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle; the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true!"
"Get it?"
'Got it.'
"Good!"
Shit mate, sorry.
McKenzie might not be the worst option ( excuse the delay, I had to go walk around the paddocks and tend the poultry after writing that. π΅). The problem is that she's a "wimmin" and would not be easily accepted by the QLD LNP, and only begrudgingly at best by the other states. It's a boys club.
Doubtful. So Littleproud, Barnaby, and McCormack are out. Is there any other Nat ready to step up, and if successful in explaining why the damned party needs to exist at all, is ready to be dumped for a sky news supported IPA numpty? Don't crowd, plenty of room.π
Oh that's not fair! It's to easy...πππ€£
π€£π€£π€£ Thanks Trish.
Thanks! Ever since I moved to retirement without centrelink being obstructive (as I heard could happen from so many others), I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop. Well, here it is! π
After watching Casablanca and Duck Soup, so many of the jokes in older WB cartoons suddenly made sense. π€£
And my little fridge has just gone phut and changed professions to being a box with an interior light. It is an ex-fridge. After checking repair (expensive) and warranty (your claim may be resolved by the next geological period), it seems I'm buying a new fridge. Grumble.
Out nearest large township ("large = more than 2 supermarkets"π) is Portland, Victoria Australia. It's annoying that every internet search has to specify "portland victoria" lest I get useless information about the one in Oregon instead. As you say, niche. But Portland is not always "Portland".
Yes, sections 58 & 59 of the constitution. And in 125 years how many times has this provision been used to block a federal bill? Never as far as I can see, so maybe it's not needed? Section 59 (the monarch's right to cancel passed legislation) is diplomatically untenable these days anyway.
And that explains why he's never darkened my feed. Love that blocklist!
Yep. For occasionally shaking hands and rubber stamping laws that have passed Parliament they get paid $517,650 PA and get to live in Government House (a 240 room 3000 sqm Manor). Nice work if you can get it.
Hear, hear! Dump the Monarch, GG, and the state Governors and replace them with nothing! If a bill gets passed by both houses (or "the house" in QLD) it becomes law. Nothing changes, but we lose a whole useless (and expensive) bunch of entitled rubber-stampers.
Just ditch the entire concept of a head of state. We donβt need one. They donβt really do anything.
Add one word to a film to ruin it.
The two Trump Towers.
That's a ... "unique" take. π΅ And stay safe re gunshots.
Welcome to the Garyneum, the 13 day period between the birthdays of Gary Numan and Gary Oldman.
I just wanted to say racist slurs and now I've been drafted into a war in the Middle East and $150 drones are dropping hand grenades on my head: The MAGA Story
As we celebrate #InternationalWomensDay today, we have two questions for you:
1. Who are your FIVE favorite female artists of all time?
2. What is your favorite album by each of these five women (or their bands/groups)?
[In no particular order]
Ann & Nancy Wilson - Dreamboat Annie
Debbie Harry - Parallel lines/Autoamerican [tied vote]
Janis Joplin - Pearl
Patti Smith - Horses/Easter [tied vote]
Marianne Faithfull - Broken English
A good idea, however...
Looks at my books and imagines people with greasy pizza hands coming close to just touching the dust jackets (let alone turning a page). Needs to lie down until the red mist goes away.
You have a point there.
I remain unconvinced some of them aren't simply AI slop.
