FERRARI ARE SO BACK, fantastic race from Charles, we have a fantastic car strong start for the season. We have a strong competitive base. Its going to be Merc v Ferrari, clear top 2.

Cold Takes #7: Mercedes isn't a foregone conclusion. Don't think the win was ever quite on, but the strats didn't help. Ferrari's in play, and Max and Hadjar look SOLID.

Charles absolutely dogwalked Russell for 15 laps, the long run pace was close until the last few, and we looked *very* quick in the corners. Got screwed over on the VSC pitlane closure, but, happens. I'm very happy.

There's a fight on for us here.

WELL. could we have won that with less conservative strategy? maybe. but we also had zero long run data. and george was fucking rattled at the beginning there.

Standard. They've gotta do it for the clout. They took a shout on the first, fully expecting the potential of another and the potential of a one-stopper. Got the second, but got screwed on the pitlane being closed. Happens.

Solid race. Charles and Lewis both look dead even on race pace.

The Ferrari can win in a knife fight and out-duel the Mercs. Not being able to pit under the 2nd VSC is the difference.

Got screwed on the second. It was called after they'd passed the pitlane, by the time they got round again, they'd closed the pitlane

P3-P4. Good start. Not even mad, we took the gamble on the first VSC and got screwed on the second.

Happens. Still a good result and the race pace was strong.

We'd have stopped on the second VSC if the pitlane wasn't closed. Don't fool yourselves that it is a "Ferrari are clowns" situation

My main take away from this race is that George could not stay ahead of Charles with an illegal engine that's going to be taken away soon. Just bad luck with the VSCs really.

Inside the final 15 laps and the gaps between the top four remain largely the same. It's all about whether the Mercedes tyres hold on the later into the race we go #F1 #AusGP
