don’t forget to destroy your clocks tonight, walk away from your mortgage, just start driving, you’re free

Failson scions of wealthy families trying to die in race cars is a time honored tradition, there's a Habsburg who does the 24 Hours of Le Mans every year just asking for it

Picturing Jim Harbaugh eating Italian food is extremely funny though, just picking up a slab of eggplant parm and eating it like a burger

lBumping a ref when you aren't the coach of the conferences flagship #4 ranked program, probably lol

Were you there when Garrison Carr was on the basketball team? He grew up near me and we played him in high school, real obnoxious to get humiliated by a 5'9" guy like that

I mean I know most coaches are absolute psychopaths but I can't imagine how they can look at Chris Petersen and Bob Stoops and how happy and carefree they are and not at least consider getting out of the meat grinder while they've still got their health

lol even as a Seahawks fan I like and respect Sean McVay but he is one of the most Duke-coded people on earth (derogatory)

In many ways it was an ordinary election with a lot of window dressing that made it seem extraordinary - at the end of the day, the incumbent party lost because of the economic conditions, primarily inflation. This isn't a Gaza map, or a Project 2025 map, this is "my money don't spend anymore" map

This is a valid criticism of Grim and some left pundits but other than Bernie the actual leftist politicians who have had success are almost uniformly people of color (Mamdani, AOC, Talib, Omar, Jayapal) so the veiled argument mainline Dems make that Platner exposes the left as racist is very dumb

That would take a nearly Herculean political effort to happen, imo - even if it's tied to a bill that cuts the sales tax and lowers the overall burden on the average person dramatically, "look, they're trying to tax you more" is such an easy argument to make in opposition that I can't see it winning

There aren't that many people so hate filled that they do the Goebbels evil eye 180º the moment they find out someone around them is a minority, the insidious thing about racism is that they can make exceptions for people who bring a benefit them while still being prejudiced against the group

Motivator coaches have a shelf life, building a culture is super important for the rebuild and once you start seeing some success you can sustain that level of buy-in for a couple years but eventually the act wears thin, this is what happened to Carroll in Seattle with the LOB era guys

Trump’s case for the Iran war makes no sense The scary incoherence at the heart of Trump’s latest, biggest war.

We are at war for no good reason because we created a presidency with unbounded war powers and then elected a madman to it www.vox.com/politics/481...

Extremely hopped up on cold medicine right now and read and re-read this tweet thinking you meant "A Night at the Museum" and wondering what sort of subtext I must have missed if it had been bad enough to warrant a documentary lol

lol it might be true though, there are plenty of cases where the historical reason for something converged with a practical one - there were plenty of cabins and shacks in early America with roofs insulated with moss and mud and whatever else they could find, I bet wearing a hat paid off

As much as I like this line of reasoning, I think it's apocryphal, unfortunately - I think it dates back to removing your helmet and kneeling before a king/lord, like a dog exposing his belly in a way, putting yourself at their mercy, which evolved into removing your cap as a show of respect

Fascinating to watch them continue to propagate the Western Civilization/Judeo-Christian Values bullshit while simultaneously destroying our 70+ year old alliances with both Canada and Europe. It's...it's almost like those concepts are just cover for a white supremacist ideology!

Sure, I think it's easy to fantasize about a utopian outcome if things had gone differently, but Butler had shown a willingness as military governor of New Orleans to hang people whether it offended polite society or not, and a think even just a few show trials would have gone a long way

If only Benjamin Butler had accepted Lincoln's offer to be his VP in 1864 rather than letting it devolve upon Andrew Johnson we might have extinguished the flame of all that Lost Cause bullshit with the blood of the planter class before it ever got started

People have always loved to argue online but the current cultural climate has - in many cases, justifiably - destroyed the concept of nuance, so if you say something that can be squinted at and seen as even mildly oppositional to their personal viewpoint, you are immediately an enemy
