She genuinely looks like she’s channeling Baghdad Bob with her mannerisms. It’s insane.

It’s weird to think back on it now, but I used to play these with 1-2 other friends at the same time, each looking over the players’ shoulder shouting suggestions. Both the Infocom and Sierra stuff (King’s Quest, Leisure Suit Larry when parents were away, etc). Basically improvised coop.

That Hitchhikers’ adaptation was genuinely inspired. A great complement to the novel.

For a brief shining moment, Activision released the whole catalog in a great app that even had 3D models of all the little goodies that came in boxes. It sadly never made the conversion to 64bit in 2015. 😢

This 1976 kid thinks this list is superb.

IIRC, Genesis Shadowrun was a notch better. But they were both fantastic and I was lucky to own both systems in HS for this game alone.

Deep respect for the Infocom shoutout too—especially for what was probably their most “cerebral” game.

I’d honestly like to subscribe to the Atlantic because 2/3 of their writers are great.

But there’s 1/3 that’s just like 😬

Oh yeah, he’s like CRAZY crazy. Not just performatively crazy for clicks. He’s genuinely unwell.

Remember when he actually traveled to Poland, took videotape of people moving boxes in an American base, and claimed he had proof we were joining a ground war against Russia?

Authentically stupid.

I really love that looking to see what tabs I have open in my browser is now two precise taps instead of one simple one. That’s only pissed me off a dozen times so far.

The U.S. Hockey Men Spoil The Fantasy | Defector To be a U.S. Olympian is to represent the best that your country has to offer. That sounds extremely lofty when it’s written out like that, but I think that’s really how it works, ideally, if you’re…

imo the threat posed by CBS News and CNN getting absorbed by pro-regime billionaires isn't that they're going to produce right-wing slop that convinces people to be right-wing, it's the dismantling of newsrooms capable of doing investigative reporting on the administration. Fewer eyes on the street.

Bruce Arthur: The U.S. men’s hockey team’s triumphant return to the NHL is an exercise in damage control Some players complained that partying with the FBI director and attending the Trump’s State of the Union was being politicized. Others apologized.

Some US men’s players apologized; even more talked about how much they respected the USA women’s team. What they didn’t seem to realize was that if you respect them and don’t apologize for the Trump debacle, it actually makes embracing Trump worse. www.thestar.com/sports/nhl/t...

it really is astonishing; this was the first men’s hockey gold since the literal miracle on ice and they couldn’t manage six hours before they turned themselves into the dipshit brigade for 60% of the country

I know it's meant in good faith but "if we just made smaller scope games and charged 20-40 dollars for them it would fix the industry" is very funny to me. indies release like 20 of those a week on steam. are you buying them? is the industry fixed? no? hm. sounds like you need a different solution

U.S. men's hockey with Curt-Schilling-in-Boston levels of good will squandering. A 25-mile lead in the good will marathon and they tripped on their dicks right at the finish line.

The Paranoid Style of Jeffrey Epstein Has Come for Us All The pedophile plutocrat had some peculiar predilections—especially for academics and thinkers who showed a potential to further his grand experiments in inhumanity.

Wrote a piece about many looking at the Epstein case all wrong: He's not the thing that connects a network of rich and powerful men; he's the lens that shows us how they were already connected.

As a former scout myself, it was heartbreaking to see that organization’s leadership invite Trump to speak to their jamboree in 2017, with predictable results.

It’s hard to imagine the same organization I was part of failing those kids that badly.

THIS. Other than updates making them available to play on modern consoles, a new coat of paint on an older game hardly seems worth it in the vast majority of cases.

I just wanna let everyone know that the reason that the DOJ under Biden didn’t always do what we wanted was because it wasn’t an arm of the White House. It is supposed to be an independent entity. I hope the next time that it is, you remember today, when Trump put his face on the building.
