Insaf Aliyev, is a Georgian citizen of Azerbaijani origin. Prosecutors accuse him of “group violence” during the pro-EU protests, relying on footage TI says was likely obtained illegally. There’s no evidence the defendants acted as an organized group, and they didn’t even know each other. #Georgia

More on their sentencing.

Before being taken to the detention center, both were beaten and tortured in a police van.

Temur’s lawyer saw him a day and a half later, his face was severely swollen. He’s still denied access to his medical file. 2/3

On August 7, 2008 Russia invaded Georgia. In just 20 hours, we began our defense. Not on the 8th — on the 7th.

17 years later, we gathered to honor the heroes who defended us and prove that we won’t let anyone rewrite history.
