Everyone thinks of him as a comic actor, but he had range.

I resemble this anecdote.

You know that he had a clause in his contract that if he played a Nazi he would ONLY play inept or evil?

I was SFWA Secretary and then Nebula Commissioner. Am proud I did it and glad I’m out…

My dog was attacked a couple of times when she was young and turned to balls as a safer alternative to The Pack. She was happy to play with single chance-met dogs, but the park was where she got her workout.

I will note that my ball-obsessed dog was an utter pacifist and would either find another ball or stand by politely until the ball-thief grew tired or recognized that it tasted wrong. Emily was a wimp…

Oh, no. I’m so sad to hear this.

Yes!! California, you can do this too!

$40 an hour? Says something about how little they value actual creative work.

Good for both Bean and you. Happy New Year!

I was missing having to cuddle the dog through the neighborhood explosionsβ€”I could have cuddled her any time, but I felt extra useful when she was upset by all the booms. In the Great Dog Park in the Sky fireworks do not exist.

Happy New Year, Nancyβ€”to you and Jim and the kittens.

Seeing the old year out with competence porn (Apollo 13) and then the Stranger Things finale. Plus snacks, of course.

I miss having a dog to soothe when neighbors start shooting off rockets, but I bet the dog is just as happy.

A safe and kind New Year.

Terrific book at a great price. Grab it while you can.

(Of course then you'll want to get the rest of the series).

And somehow, no matter how many times you watch it, it’s still a nail biter.

Ambling Along the Aqueduct Conversation about all things Aqueductian

We had a server glitch on the Treehouse Writers blog, so no new posts. But Aqueduct Press authors are doing their yearly roundup of what they've read, listened to, seen, and etc. Read all of them (so far) at aqueductpress.blogspot.com and mine at aqueductpress.blogspot.com/2025/12/the-...

The Rental Family is just a delightful film. Very few laugh-out-loud moments, but so much thoughtful humor. Brendan Fraser is wonderful, but so is Akira Emoto, as an elderly actor, and Shannon Marina Gorman, as a schoolgirl whose father Fraser pretends to be. No explosions, just kindness and wit.

Dog is long-suffering. Some dogs would not be so forebearing.

I suppose that it says something about my mindset and history that when I’m shopping at Home Depot and see a sign that says fencing, my first thought is swords.

I found Hanging Sword Alley, where all the salons des armes wereβ€”it exists as a street sign on the side of a gray stone office tower.

I have a Regency London A-Z which is my constant companion when I’m writing in Miss Tolerance’s London. Cause things change in 200+ years!
