People got real mad at Biden for looking at his watch during a dignified transfer.
Looking forward to the same outrage at Trump for wearing a fucking hat

For real, I really need people to please stop going, "Look! The chatbot 'told' me..." with things. See: www.readtpa.com/p/grok-cant-...
Cat sitting on a puzzle board.
This is my puzzle saver, accessorized with the primary reason I need a puzzle saver. Cats are fun.
The administration is setting up the idea that anyone opposing Trump is engaging in "domestic terrorism," as Trump's EO set out. (This is a way to get around the specific definition of "domestic terrorist" in U.S. law.)
Good people donβt build concentration camps
Donald Trump's theory of regime change is underpants gnomes logic
1) Kidnap/kill current leaders, blow stuff up
2) ?
3) Profit! (literally, because Trump and his allies seek personal gain from all of this)
In case youβre just waking up, the U.S. has teamed up with Israel overnight to start an illegal war of regime change, apparently on a presidential whim with no involvement of Congress, and they are already committing horrific atrocities.
I know this feels pointless but everyone has to call their congressional reps and say they oppose war with Iran and they oppose Trump illegally starting one without congressional approval β both

I deeply resent having to live in the absolutely most stupid of timelines
Trump has launched a war of βfury,β to βrazeβ and βannihilate,β that has already killed dozens of Iranian girls, reportedly cost the lives of U.S. servicemembers, and will kill many more of both. He is acting without authorization by Congress and flouting international law.
Call your reps about this. Every time a book ban has been overturned or shut down, it's because the vast majority of people who believe in the freedom to read spoke up.
Find your reps' info at reps.fyi.
I continue to be fascinated by the phenomenon whereby an expert engages with any of the LLMs on their field of expertise and is instantly horrified by the wrong answers, and then goes on to use it for things they are not experts in as though it wonβt be just as bad for those.
"You can upload your own study materials β lecture slides, PDFs, notes, textbook chapters β and Einstein will help you understand them, create interactive learning tools, and guide you through the material step by step."
Um, no you can't because it is intellectual property

I understand why chatbot cheating happens but every time I read about it I want to gently remind everyone that the point of schoolwork is not for the submission to exist. Teachers are not just greedy for more essays or solved equations. The point is to do the work WITH YOUR OWN BRAIN, FOR LEARNING.
An analogy I use with my students that seems to land:
At the gym, you could use a forklift to move all the weights around. But you donβt actually get any benefits unless you lift them yourself.
I shifted almost everything in my fall course into in-class blue book evaluations, with no internet, and Iβm glad I did
The students liked it as well
There is more to be done as AI advances but this is the way
New theory for low response to alumni outreach unlocked...
We're doing this again, because of course we are. Open AI is the new Facebook.
That drop is more than the entire NSF budget.
INBOX: the police chief of Quakertown, Pa., led a group of plainclothes officers to disrupt a peaceful high school student sidewalk protest yesterday.
They threw an underage girl to the ground, choked her, and disconnected all calls to the detention center where she and others are currently held.
I would be a lot more comfortable if these guys didnβt sound like supervillains all the time.
So SCOTUS, with its fabricated-out-of-thin-air immunity doctrine, has actually made American presidents less accountable than LITERAL royalty.

Now Iβm off to try to compose a list of some closed door romance novels that are likely to be nibbling-safe before the poor kid is banned from readingβ¦
Trying to be a supportive auntie, but reminding her that we read flowers in the attic in middle school and so far donβt seem too damaged is apparently βnot helpful.β Seriously dying here.
She was so excited her kid was finally reading voraciously after being grounded from their phone and now is so distraught, and all I can do is wheeze. She came dangerously close to recommending the series that made her kid a reader to other parents, at least she was spared that embarrassment!
I just learned that one of my niblings read a romance book series that, despite having teenage main characters, is definitely meant for an 18+ audience. (Apparently the series all over booktok.) My sister is freaking out, and Iβm struggling to breathe from laughter.
