Random musing while ending an email (yes, sadly, a work email) with "Hope you had a restful weekend!":
Is there even such a thing as a restful weekend to a healthcare worker (unless they specifically got or requested for a weekend off)?

I’ve been so busy and constantly on-call lately that I can’t even shower in peace without thinking I’m hearing my work phone ring or ping with messages. πŸ˜…πŸ₯² It’s just 15 days into the year and I feel like I’ve worked enough for at least 3 months.

Sorting through all the photos and videos we’ve taken has got to be one of my favorite AND least favorite things about coming from a holiday.

Gentle parenting IS NOT permissive parenting. It’s responsive, compassionate and authoritative (not authoritarian). It meets your child where they are developmentally, teaches them boundaries & natural consequences, and does NOT mean you no longer parent, guide &(appropriately) discipline your child

The red herring. The violence. The utter disrespect.

CDC vaccine advisory committee to review long-approved immunizations A leader of the CDC's reconstituted vaccine advisory committee said the panel would start a review of long-approved shots.

News: The American Academy of Pediatrics says it will no longer take part in the process of ACIP meetings.

I got her three of the Dr. Seuss Big Book For Beginners (the Green, Purple and Orange ones), a Pop-Up Disney Princess Book (she’s absolutely wild for the Elmo one), and a book on potty training (Ms. Rachel’s Potty Time With Bean). 😊

Went to a bookstore today and bought several books, none of which were for me. Our priorities truly shift once we’re raising a tiny human (and, hopefully, a life-long reader!).

And are so proud of it too. It’s really disheartening.

β€œThank you, Tylenol/whatever” is not the flex you guys think it is.

So you had a fever and still went out and decided to share whatever you had with others. That’s just… πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

Whenever I see posts of people talking about how they were sick but still β€œshowed up” (to work, a concert, etc), especially if they were unmasked and (likely) contagious (especially in a crowded place), I feel not so lowkey distressed.

Have we really learned nothing? (Rhetorical / Also: Just sad)

This is the 100% correct response

Agree! My problem is that I have two clinics back to back on certain days, and it will mean that even the other clinic’s patients may be inconvenienced by tardiness. I don’t like to think of cutting down clinic hours or days so I can account for other’s tardiness.

14.04.2025 01:38 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

So much more frustrating because I try to be very good and considerate with my patients’ time. It only takes one very late patient to make all the other families (who make it on time!) inconvenienced.

I don’t think anything stresses me out at work as much as patients who are very, very late on a fully (actually, over)booked clinic day. ESPECIALLY if they’re scheduled at the start of the day. If you are very, very late, all of the patients after you will also be seen much later than intended.

Always a struggle to get professional makeup off! So far, the best makeup remover I’ve tried is the Banila Co Clean It Zero, but it can sometimes be difficult to find. Do you guys have any products you swear by for thorough makeup removal?

"Treating children has the highest yield of all professions, the highest potential to support lifelong health and to lower the costs of health care over the long haul." - Dr. Sallie Permar

When things start to get tough, this is such a humbling and grounding reminder.

The exhaustion from the past few weeks is hitting me especially hard today. But there’s no time to rest. And the guilt when I do rest gets pretty intense.

The HPV vaccine is not just for women. Males and females ages 9 to 45 can get the cancer-preventing vaccine.

Technically Speaking: Why HPV Vaccination Before Age 11 Years Is a Good Idea Dr. Sean O’Leary, Chair of AAP’s COID, explains why AAP and CDC recommendations about HPV vaccine differ.

β€œHealthcare personnel often do not realize that in the U.S., HPV-related mortality far surpasses the mortality from tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis & meningococcal disease combined. Each year, about 4,000 deaths are the result of cervical cancer; most are preventable through pre-exposure vaccination”
