Jesus that have me such a flashback. So many hours lost to that game, was great.

Bob Mortimer exists, he took all the goodness that was supposed to go around all of them as they aged I think.

The Kurds are a proud, savvy and enduring people. Them saying no is a fair reflection of that. Starmer saying no on the other hand is a proper insult. If even humanity's most servile and spineless politician is rejecting you then you're really done.

Different Kurds. But the lesson travels well.

The Kurds said no and rightfully so. They'd gain nothing by being US and Israeli cannon fodder.

No you can't. Don't be absurd. Messi is the same generation as me, I don't take credit for winning the Ballon D'or.

It's mad that no world religion has considered that penguins may actually be God's chosen and favourite creation.

How does your history show that? Because the ingrained violence, force backed capitalism and racism have been pretty much constant throughout your history.

You think any candidate could change social and economic structures of the country?

If you're into re-enactments get a uniform and go pretend to be Sharpe in a disused field somewhere, this is just embarrassing the lot of us.

Good things those Israeli bombs are smart enough to skip gay people then. I mean, they don't miss kids or anything, but still.

But then Americans killing people is different of course. Exceptionalism or some old bollocks.

every decade or two.

As to Russia and China being worse, perhaps they would be, Putin is certainly very American in his attitudes although China is nowhere near as expansionist. But a few 100k more dead civilians isn't a price worth paying for the privilege of benign US hegemony. Especially as we all have to see it paid

I'm not sure the Cubans, Vietnamese, Iranians, Afghans, Venezuelans, Yemenis, Palestinians et al would agree. Nor the huge numbers of people the US economic system violently exploits under the aegis of your military reach. Or the dozens of countries facing surging fascism backed by your state.

06.03.2026 22:09 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Maybe, just maybe, not having such a large and destructive military might be a better path to the same end?

06.03.2026 21:56 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I'm sure they will be in a lot of ways. Tbh though I just wish the hope went as far as making the US a less toxic, destructive place (and force) rather than just getting the Blues back in for a few years. And maybe yours does, but for a lot it seems to be vote and done for duration.

06.03.2026 21:23 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I'm not discouraging anyone from voting. If I were American I'd probably vote for some generic Dem too. I'd just be far more terrified of my countries inability to avoid being what it is however I voted.

06.03.2026 21:15 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Like I said, I understand the desire to vote anyone but Trump. But them Dems aren't going to fix the structural failings that make the US what it is. Vote how you need to, but no point imagining it'll fix the country beyond hopefully delaying the next round of atrocities a little.

06.03.2026 21:14 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I can understand voting least worst, but it will inevitably just lead to the same patterns repeating. The US death spiral towards fascism seems far beyond the Democrats to ever fix.

You blew up a school the other day because two geriatric fascists, one of whom can't even remember if his own hair is real, want to play at being soldiers.

Depressingly them inventing their own fantasy victory is perhaps the only way towards peace available at the moment. Logic, morals, abject failure - none of that has ever moved them an inch.

Iran is absolutely not the reason Palestine isn't independent, don't be absurd.

No one's forcing America to do anything, they're more than happy to slaughter foreigners and always have been.

06.03.2026 15:11 πŸ‘ 7 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I have no idea how Americans (or a lot of Brits tbf) can ever be convinced that war is a real thing that kills and hurts real people. By suffering themselves seems like the only answer, but that's a horrific solution no one should desire.

I'll never get this. As a 90's kid I remember the Arnie, Stallone, Van Damme era of hyper-masculinity and... it made sense. It wasn't healthy or good, but it was big lads playing soldiers and riding motorbikes. Crypto sex pest was never made out to be the ideal, the fantasy was at least coherent.

End of days fantasies at the Gucci store. Toxic masculinity ain't what it used to be.
