That’s close to what I ended up having to do for the beanie I was attempting! Chain four, slip stitch into the first to make a loop, 10 double crochets into whatever loop I could find, then tighten the loop (I don’t know what I’m doing but it seemed to work)
I just spent most of an hour failing to crochet into and close a single magic circle with thick yarn, so the tiny concentric circles on these amigurumis fill me with awe.
