The last day of August found me riding through a cathedral of Bigleaf Maples, on the South Skagit Highway, beside the gorgeous, sinuous Skagit River.
Not the experience I was hoping for.
Rene Herse toobs in Teravail Ramparts. Not the tire's fault, they have been bombproof. Toobs failed at the valve repeatedly, and the puncture I patched apparently didn't work. Too much cheeze whiz for a long walk home.
My limited experience with TPU tubes has me hating them. Partly for their fragility, but also for breaking my heart with amazing performance for the precious few minutes until they fail.

Hurray for Solstice! My favorite time of the year. Snail weather in the PNW, but still a good day for a bike ride!
Of course, I still uploaded that shit to Strava.
I'm not a savage.
100+ mile week.
And building.
Bike Mental Health PSA:
My Garmin's battery died 4 miles into a long ride last night. I resumed tracking on my phone, tucked in my jersey pocket. I looked at the dead GPS many times, wondering about speed, distance, etc.
NOT HAVING THAT DATA IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE MADE MY RIDE VASTLY MORE ENJOYABLE.
I was on a boat in the San Juan Islands, and we heard the explosion three times as the sound waves traveled around and through various channels.
I loves it! It's a great ride!
45 years ago today, Mount St. Helens erupted. The anniversary of that eruption is celebrated as Cascadia Day, a day chosen to join together to celebrate, educate, and raise awareness of #Cascadia and bioregionalism. Good day for a bike ride too.
I dunno where I saw this... prolly right here. But I just re-watched it and it's charming AF!

I met most of my #pinhole photography posse on Txitter, but that has decomposed into a feculent stew of hate, so many of us have come here.
Here's us making exposures today, on Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day.

I rode the Klunker yesterday cuz PRs and KOMs aren't everything. But you know I still Strava that shit.
A quick out-and-about, riding between the raindrops, ducking beneath the wind.
Confession, I never cared for the desert-turquoise hits of color on this MASI frame. Until I got a carpet, in the form of a water bottle, that tied the room together.

But don't get an eBike with a throttle. That ain't a bike.
I came here to say zackly this.
I stopped reading at 224 pounds. I think they meant kilos.

I took #Morlock out for a sunset spin tonight. My modern #scorcher, super fun to ride fixed.

This was really good ... excellent production, research, and communication.
You may know all this, but it really works to summarise so much so well and explain it simply.

I ran out of text, but I had argued for the removal of the yield signs due to their ambiguity and confusing presence.
My town has an app one can use to report issues with infrastructure, signage, potholes, etc. I documented a confusing intersection of a road and a shared-use trail that had a stop sign for cars and yield signs for bikes. I cited the Revised Code of Washington (RCW)...
AND THE YIELD SIGNS ARE GONE!
Fucking moron. You know who.
This is possibly the most delightful little bike video. Pure whimsy. I could not stop smiling. It is in Dutch, but there are English subtitles.
'How NOT to get your bike stolen'

My values won't let me shop at Walmart, so why the fuck have I been spending my money at Amazon?
And by common, I mean fantastically, extraordinary, intelligent and social creatures
Looks like a GBH to me. They are as common as crows around here.
I just canceled Amazon Prime and Amazon music unlimited.
Amazon's product is convenience, but the price is too high.
I will never give that traitorous, boot licking, rat-faced, weasel-fuck bezos another dime.
