thts my point exactly. musk and zuck mishandling politics by removing mods is a design issue. invasion of privacy while not giving enough entertainment or better algo to make up for the privacy breach is also a design issue. I dont even like TikTok like that, but clearly some ppl find value in it.
In a twist of irony, the top 2 social media apps on the US app store right are Chinese-owned. Rednote (Xiaohongshu) and Lemon8 (owned by TikTok creator Bytedance).
The fact that some people would rather move to Rednote than American social media platforms is interesting. Demonstrates that US companies are behind on some fundamental design aspects in their apps and would do better trying to learn from Chinese devs rather than ban them because they cant compete.
