An edited version of the XKCD comic #2347 titled "Dependencies"
It shows a large stack of irregularly sized blocked stacked on one another. They are labelled "The Global Economy"
In the lower right there is a single small block that is clearly supporting the entire tower above it. It is labelled "A Very Narrow Strip Of Water Between Iran And Gulf States"
With apologies to XKCD (xkcd.com/2347/)

MKBHD got it right in his video by saying who the Neo is *not* for, including people watching that very video. Heβs definitely one of the more self aware people who make Tech videos.

As someone who still uses a base M1 Air (8gb RAM) every day, the MacBook Neo is an excellent buy and will serve most people quite well. If anything I'd say it's biggest flaw is no backlit keyboard, not it's "lack" of RAM

Had a church leader here in NZ say this to me back in 2012; he genuinely believed that allowing the destruction of the earth would hasten the second coming (the return of Jesus in Glory). Evangelical Christianity is a destructive malignant curse upon the earth.

Government deciding whether US should get access to New Zealanders' biometric data
Officials are in talks with the US about a new travel deal.
Just looked to see how this has been covered by NZ media and it hasnβt been widely picked up - incredibly strange given the clear concern outlined in the article, the refusal to give any answers to valid questions, and the wider, connected context of US fascism.
Democracy dies in darkness indeed.

This is a "papers please" "English is the official language" "eat slop and be grateful" "disappear the unhoused" "women are second class" "don't learn real history" "local FBI office" government and we really cannot afford to be smug about other countries' slide to open fascism, Aotearoa

Meta spent the past few years absolutely wrecking small studios who begged for these changes to happen much sooner but Meta is only putting these changes in place now after the damage has been done & stopping first party game development. Better late than never but wow, a bit too little too late

The Trump years were dark. But in little NZ they never lost hope. For NZ had a leader of rare and inspiring character.
In the face of endless climate disaster and economic implosion, he always had just the right uplifting words:
"Welcome to IKEA"
"Welcome to State of Origin"
"Check out my Spotify"

And while everyone sees the flooding photos, the real damage comes after. Crop losses leading to price hikes and businesses struggling. Huge bills for insurance companies and councils. Economic damage from road closures. The massive emotional toll for those having to pick up the pieces. #nzpol

AOC: "Extreme level of wealth inequality leads to social instability and drives authoritarianism, right-wing populism, and really dangerous domestic internal politics. That is a direct outcome of the failure of democracies over decades to deliver."

I've never felt the need to look into the meaning word "Lolita" because I knew it was weird & gross but since it's being talked about so much at the moment & I've since learned it is a book, I forced myself to read it's Wikipedia page and now I feel even worse, what the fuck is wrong with people π€’

Government rejects all of Climate Change Commission's emissions target recommendations
It comes despite a Climate Change Commission warning that New Zealand is being hit sooner and more severely than expected.
Lest we forget: βGovernment rejects all of Climate Change Commission's emissions target recommendationsβ
βThe move comes despite the Commission warning the effects of climate change are hitting New Zealand sooner and more severely than expected, and that NZ can and should be doing more.β
