An Army Corps project could wipe out one of Florida’s last thriving coral reefs The fate of one of the last thriving coral reefs in Florida may be imperiled by plans to widen the shipping channel leading into Port Everglades.

The US army corps of engineers is considering, right now, what would be the largest destruction of coral reefs in US history. To make a port slightly bigger.

People know this, right?

Fun little story. This is an illustration of an extinct bat whose fossils were found in a cave in Cuba in 1919. The illustration is from a children’s book about extinct animals that only identifies it as the β€œCuban yellow bat”.

New paper! Bird nests (Wood Warblers) are hubs of invertebrate biodiversity on forest floor, hosting more species/individuals than leaf litter. Probably due to heat & food detritus. Losing Wood Warblers = ecological networks lost. #ornithology

The bad:
- "Battle for dominance" narrative is still going on though.
- There are bits where its obviois they reused LOOP footage.

Overall, 7/10 so far. 8/10 for Ep 1, 7/10 for 2, havent seen second half.

YEAH, IT REALLY WAS AS GOOD AS WWD AND PHP.
No focus on modern day, just the dinosaurs in their day, resulting in a .
Thoughts on ep 1 are:
- Good selection of creatures, both well known and obscure
- The spiky creature in the trailer was Tanystropheus!? Legit didn't expect that.
- Don't like the

I have complicated feelings because we’re obviously responsible for mitigating the damage we cause to ecosystems but simultaneously we’re guilty of having a β€œeverything should stay the same all the time” perspective that is temporally locked to one remarkably narrow strip of time.

A robustly built Carcharodontosaurus stands on a white background, posed in a relaxed stance that shows off its muscular body and clawed hands. It has a three-toned countershaded pattern, black on top, grey-blue in the middle, and a cream underside. The crests above its eyes blue, and its eye is a piercing red.

An Argentinosaurus with an alert posture strides across a white background. It has a long, whip-like tail that ends in black and white bands. Its head is held high, adorned with a similar pattern as the tail. The rest of its muscular body is patterned with terracotta browns decorated with yellow streaks and black spots.

Here's a sneak preview of the upcoming Jurassic World Institute Dinopedia artwork article, to give you an idea of just how high-quality the images I've received are. This is Carcharodontosaurus and Argentinosaurus, two of the dozens of animals Timothy Bradley illustrated for the JP Institute site!

Fellow men, I do not know how low the bar should be, but I refuse to accept it being "I didn't do it because my mom told me not to"-low.

I am only saying this because they brought it to the public discussion by publishing it.

On the far left is Youngskull, a small squat green bipedal creature with four horns on its head and nose, two arms with two fingers each, bird-like legs, and a twisting tail that ends with a point, like a dragon. Its eyes are yellow, with a horizontal slit for a pupil like a goat.
In the middle is Nudgream, a medium sized red reptilian creature, similar to Youngskull, with the same eyes but with larger curved ram horns, a more developed body with longer limbs, an additional digit on each hand with sharper claws, a snake-like tongue, and a twisting tail that ends with a point like a demon.
On the right is Headquake, a large beast vaguely similar to Youngskull and Nudgeram (with the same yellow goat eyes), but larger and more robust, with a teal/blue running along its back, yellow-orange head and limbs, and a pale chest and stomach. Its head has a large dome supplanted by horns, and it has an armored tail that ends with a point much like the other two.

POKÉCEPHALOSAURS - If the theories are true and Pachycephalosaurus is the mature form of both Dracorex and Stygimoloch then that would make it one of the few animals with a proper name for each stage of its development. Kind of like one of those Pocket Monsters.

A bipedal reptilian dinosaur against an orange background. Its back is towards the viewer and its long tail thrashes behind it as it looks back and you. It is facing the viewer, mouth is open as if in mid shriek, and it is holding a ransacked egg carton in its clawed forelimbs, one of which has fallen out. A Jurassic Park 'JP' symbol is on its hip, Lost World style, reading 'Site B - JP.23'.

Any creature that shared an environment with Jurassic Park's version of Velociraptor would have to had developed anti-raptor tactics in order survive such a fierce and intelligent predator. Oviraptor got by though the use of vocal mimicry in order to confuse and destabilize them.

A quadrupedal reptilian creature is making eye contact with the viewer, as if sizing them up. It is earthy brown in color, possesses a beak, a small ornate head frill, a muscular body with a lizard-like tail. It has a scar across it's shoulder left by three claws. It has the mark of Jurassic Park on it's thigh.

RAPTOR FIGHTER
Due to sharing an environment with the infamous Velociraptor, this dinosaur has a few anti-raptor tricks up its sleeve. The Protoceratops created by InGen are larger, stronger, and smarter than anticipated, but thankfully don’t view humans as threats (but they do sometimes see us as obstacles). Thick skin along their back and flanks protect them from tearing raptor claws, allowing them to take a defensive stance by crouching low to the ground with their neck protected by their frill. They can also attack by body-slamming raptors and biting them while they try to regain balance (biting the hand claws and rendering them useless is a favored tactic). Nimble and light on their feet, Velociraptors are vulnerable to being knocked over like this, as a certain gymnast found out. Fighting Protoceratops may have influenced their ability to leap from a standstill.

RAPTOR FIGHTER - If you’re going to beef up velociraptor for your dinosaur movie than it’s only fair for protoceratops to get the same treatment. And considering they’re from the same environment it
would make sense for them to have anti-raptor defenses and behavior.

Also Dinosaurs: Shows it walking in the standard/correct bipedal way and clearly not on all fours.

What's scary about this story is the surveillance it hints at. This trans woman had changed her name, legally, but chose not to change her gender marker. She was apparently flagged in the DMV system as trans and her license was invalidated under a law that supposedly only concerned gender markers.
