Maybe a little longer ago than yesterday but I remember watching Butterfield's testimony & thinking 'holy sh*t'! Fred Thompson's question about 'listening devices in the WH' is right up there w/Howard Baker's 'what did the president know...'
During the Nixon era, there were very, very few honest people in the WH & admin. Quite a number of them went to jail. Butterfield may have been a rarity.

We had our 8th grade class photo on a name tag. Look at face, look at tag, scrunch face trying to remember the 8th grader (or to count the wrinkles & wattles).
Yes. Twice. Classmates flew in from all over. *sigh* High school reunions too; stopped going to those after the 20th (or was it 25th). Some classmates really into living in 'good old days.' Tho we also celebrated our *ahem* advancing age.
I went to mine last fall! We reuned for 25th too. Was nice to see some folks I hadn't seen in 36 yrs or 61 yrs since 8th grade & probably won't see again. But some have marinated in grade school memories since then; I barely remember the time. Odd, disconcerting.
A marvelous advocate for immigrants, too, without whom working restaurant kitchens, we'd be poorer, hungrier, & AB wouldn't have been AB.
US & other countries need Strait of Hormuz to ship fertilizer & other non-fuel products, tho. Most of ME's oil & LNG goes to Asian markets (China, Japan big buyers), not US. But, yeah, if we could wean all off fossil fuels, OPEC+ loses a lot of power (pun intended).
