This is how our government has been corrupted:
1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat
We must get big money out of politics. Itβs the root of all evil in Washington.

Hidden on page 744 of the farm bill the House Agriculture Committee passed Thursday is a provision that would condemn millions of pigs to a lifetime in gestation crates.
Rebranded the 'Save Our Bacon Act,' it's a pork-industry play to wipe out every state law banning the sale of pork from crated pigs β laws the conservative Supreme Court upheld in 2023.
Over 85% of Democrats and Republicans oppose these crates. Voters have backed ballot measures to ban them in state after state.
The pork industry knows it can't win a straight vote on this. So it's burying the provision in an 800-page bill and hoping no one notices.
Contact your senators and representative today and tell them: oppose the farm bill unless the Save Our Bacon Act is stripped out. You can reach them at http://senate.gov and http://house.gov β it takes two minutes and it matters.
This is hideous and horrible, and the people pushing for it deserve to spend the rest of their lives in a cage.

On the first day of this war, the US bombed a school with almost the same exact death toll as when Timothy McVeigh bombed the daycare center of the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City. And our leaders wonder why Iran doesn't surrender immediately.

With all respect, what are you doing to hold those who forbade you from entering (and those who gave the order) to account?
They lied, refused your legal request, and got away with it?
Nah, that's not gonna work for me, dawg.
Take the next step to closing the door for future bullshit like this.

Totally normal that the #2 person at the DOJ civil rights division is asking me about a trial court denying our motion to intervene in a case DOJ is going to lose on the merits.
He clearly does not want you to stay informed by subscribing to Democracy Docket. Here is the link: bit.ly/4qmEiFz

This didn't happen. The perception that it did is largely based on fictional shows that were about rich people. Much more common was a household where one person (theoretically Dad in a het household) was the higher earner and paid the housing costs and the other paid utilities & food

Screenshot of four different jobs from the NY Mag feature about what people make in NYC:
"Home Health Aide
$23,000
I've been a home health aide for ten years. My main patient last year was in Brooklyn. I spent most of my time taking care of her. I worked two days a week, and I was being paid for 13 hours of work each day - my agency, Loyal Home Care, budgets eight hours of sleep and three hours for mealtimes into our wages. But I was basically working 24 hours a day. She was active, and I was worried she would fall, so I would watch her all day and night. This is a pretty common experience for health aides. The agency can deny our overtime, but you can't deny a patient. When they say, "Oh, I need a drink of water; I need to use the bathroom," how could you possibly say "no" to them?
Bronx Day-Care Worker
$31,000
$16,600 from day-care profits
$14,400 from trainings and consulting
Last year, I lost a lot of kids. I live in the Bronx, and a bunch of families in my neighborhood lost their child-care vouchers. We're talking about people who make as much as I do; most of the moms I work with are home health aides. They can't afford full-time child care. If I have 16 kids, I can pay myself for 40 hours of work. But last year, I didn't, and obviously I'm still doing the same amount of work. I've been running the day care out of my home for more than seven years. It's a profession I entered out of necessity and have stayed in out of passion. I pay for everything - food, cleaning supplies, toys - and we have to meet the same requirements as a large company in terms of paying for liability insurance, which can feel pointless in this industry. I mean, if something happens to one of my children, I lose my license. End of story."
It's all so clear

It took Trump 10 days to create an energy crisis reminiscent of the 1970s, replace Ayatollah Khamenei with Ayatollah Khamenei, and weaken our alliances worldwide. He put American servicemembers in harmβs way, resulting in seven deaths. None of this made you safer or better off.

I just called my CA state (GOP) senator's office just now and asked if the senator would be making a statement about what Ogles said.
No reply but the staffer knew the comment I was referring to without me having to repeat it, and in today's Republic Party, I'll count mere acknowledgement as a win.
