Longest speaking filibuster ever was 24 hours, 18 minutes by Strom Thurmond in opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1957.
In a few hours, that record will be shattered by Sen. Cory Booker, a Black man, laying out the case for saving democracy from an aspiring despot.
THIS is what democracy looks like! Awesome to hear from 1,500 constituents in Hampton Roads this weekend at two town halls!
I hear, feel, and understand the frustrations with this chaotic administration. I’m taking all that energy back to the Capitol today.
Dozens more pregnant and postpartum women have died in Texas hospitals since the state banned abortion, our analysis shows.
As the maternal mortality rate dropped nationally, it rose in Texas by 33%.
I'm no lawyer, but it seems like discussing war plans in Signal outside a SCIF is maybe just a little bit worse than using a private server to send emails that weren't even marked as classified. But what do I know.
ICYMI: This week in the district, I spoke out against Republican Medicaid cuts and the Trump Administration’s dismantling of the Department of Education.
Watch to see what you missed this week.
You can’t make this up. The Trump admin is erasing images of one of the servicemembers who raised the flag at Iwo Jima.
What an outrageous act of disrespect to one of America’s heroes. His name is Pfc. Ira Hayes, and he deserves to be honored.

The Trump Administration’s war on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is all about erasing the history that for too long went untold.
This time, the DOD dishonors the memory of the Navajo Code Talkers who were instrumental to every major Marine Corps operation in the Pacific Theater of World War II.
I’m voting NO on cloture and NO on the House Republican’s disastrous government spending bill. Here’s why:
Yup.
Graphic. Background is image of lantern lamp. Text reads “RAMADAN KAREEM!” Logo of Rep. McClellan is present at the bottom center of the page.
Ramadan Kareem! Wishing all who observe a blessed and generous Ramadan.
The reason: a diseased population is easier to control. The goal is to destroy America for the benefit of the autocracies these people are allied with.
I’m so grateful for my Representative! If you have a Republican Rep, please call and tell them to vote no on the budget plan. They need to hear from you!
Screenshot of an article from the Associated Press titled, “USDA scholarship for students at historically Black colleges suspended.”
During #BlackHistoryMonth, USDA suspended the 1890 Scholars Program, which provides scholarships to students from rural/underserved communities studying agriculture, food or natural resource sciences at one of the 1890 Land-Grant Institutions.
Background on these institutions. 🧵

The flying public needs answers. How many FAA personnel were just fired? What positions? And why?
If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general.
If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.
I know this is cheesy, but I’m going to say it anyway: Don’t forget to show up for yourself. For awhile I stopped doing my long weekend runs and I’ve been back at it for several weeks and it makes all the difference. Whatever your thing is, don’t stop doing it!
This is not business as usual. No one is coming to save us. To quote Mr. Rogers “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” WE are the helpers. 5)
I don’t have my head in the sand. I’m not going to look the other way. I don’t consider my stance political in any way. No president should consider themselves above the law. If you also have a problem with this, start calling your reps daily to voice your concerns. March in the streets. 4)
The President of the US, a felon, posted yesterday that “He who saves his Country does not violate any Law.” I have a problem with this and you should too, unless you want to live under a dictatorship. This isn’t about being a Republican or a Democrat. 3)
If I lived during the Civil Rights movement, would I have marched? Supported Black people in my community? Would I have looked the other way? Or would I have been the angry white woman screaming at innocent Black children when they tried entering a school being desegregated? 2)
I’ve always wondered what I would have been like during monumental times throughout history.
My family is Jewish and if we lived in Germany during the time of Hitler, chances are good that my family wouldn’t have made it out alive, or at least not all of us. 1)
My work buddy today. I’m kinda jealous he got to take a nap and I didn’t. I guess all of the Teams video call appearances wiped him out.
