Check out the seaglass patterns by Wool & Pine- it’s a 1/1 colorwork scheme, and I turned scratchy generic acrylic yarn into a soft yummy end product by using one of those as the CC paired with a nicer yarn for the MC throughout the project. I did end up buying 2 skeins of nice yarn but it worked!
