I was the sound man for this. Check it out!

I was the sound man for this. Check it out!
The Drifter was one of NPR's best games of 2025.
It's Unnumbered which means that we are officially equally as good as Donkey Kong Bananza.

Thought I'd post part of the intro sequence to Barrow now that the game is officially cancelled.
I sketched most of the main song out in the old Samurai Punk office way back when the game was mostly greybox.
It didn't end up changing much at all really.
And take money from our hard working fuel magnates? Not on my watch!
This is a cancelled game I worked on last year. The whole team did great work on it and it had the potential to be pretty cool.
If anyone has a spare half mil lying around feel free to shoot Nick a message.
The Drifter took home Sound Design, Visual Art, Narrative and Game of the Year. Big result for Dave at the AGDAve's this year.
We got some sneaky AGDA nominations for visual art, gameplay, narrative, sound design, music and game of the year.
Dave's gonna need some extra hands to hold all his accolades.
Experimenting with some atmosphere for the Crab horror game @nicholasmc1.bsky.social and I are making. Still tossing up having music at all or just having ambience sfx. π€·ββοΈ
Nick was mad that I didn't have the HideTutorials preference on so now I'm leaving it off forever out of spite.
There's a weird level of connectedness I feel reading comments in a song someone made in in 1998. What was life like back in that distant past. Were they like us back then?
Niche post but a thing that is cool & handsome to do if you are a fan of Unreal 1999, cause UMX files are just S3M and IT files under the hood you can download OpenMPT (Or any tracker software) and just open them up. All the samples are there. the whole composition is laid out. Genuinely interesting
There is a non zero chance I coded it in and then forgot about. I dont think I did but there's a chance...
Posting more unused Drifter songs because why not. Nobody tell Dave.
This was a song I was going to use in the kitchen in chapter 7 but it became way too energetic for such a small area that you enter and leave so quickly. Managed to reuse some of the elements in the last half of ch9 though.
Why didn't you tell me you were making a game where you move little guys around a grid. Moving little guys around a grid is one of my favorite genres
My boy Dan made this cool Playdate game.
Oh dang. This looks sick!
I'm gonna make it a gacha game. I'll make millions
I wonder, if I announced it would @dave.powerhoof.com be forced to make it?
Thought I'd post the original first sketch i did for The Drifter 2 years ago. Back when I was planning to just make everything sound like Vangelis.
We've come a long way.
Minor spoilers for green blob character i guess...
The Drifter music is on bandcamp now for all you bandcamp freaks out there.
Give it an ear squiz if you want to hear some dark-synth jams and or bops. πΌπΆ
You're gonna take my job!
Now I gotta add a flickering light sound. :(
It's kind of just strip silence but it fades instead. Useful when changing the length of the clip would mess with the timing.
There's almost definitely a reaper package that does this already but i couldn't find it.
Hey, buy The Drifter!
Just showing off my first custom script i made in reaper while mixing the VO for The Drifter (available now)
Made a script that iterates through all selected items and does a custom action which fades up to the first transient then fades out the item from a certain volume threshold. I think its neat
Thanks so much!
We hit the overwhelmingly positive threshold! Don't think there is any benefit in terms of algorithm or anything but it feels nice.
New Tropical Fuck Storm album is sick by the way. Getting increasingly close to Feelin Kinda Free by The Drones which is a top 10 for me.
With the existential dread that I'm feeling towards the advancement of AI I'm finding more and more joy in the small rebellion of making and supporting weird shit.
Sort of feels like I'm poisoning the well you know.
Make stuff that is un-generatable.
Allowing myself one doomer post a week btw.
In the critically acclaimed videogame The Drifter (Out Now)
the word "Drifter" is spoken two times in the over 11,000 lines of dialogue.

We've got radioplay interludes in the soundtrack. We're going to do a War of the World's up in here.
