3) These memory deficits in postmenopausal females were associated with altered 🧠 activation and network connectivity involving the hippocampus & associated cortices - areas affected by aging & by Alzheimer’s disease (AD) (Crestol et al 2023, Kearley et al AAIC Abstract 2025).

2) Postmenopausal females with high levels of cardiovascular risk factors performed worse on this memory task than those with lower risk factors (Kearley et al, 2025) /4
To date our research shows:
1) Our face-location memory task is sensitive & specific to detecting an acceleration of age-related memory decline in perimenopausal & postmenopausal females compared to middle-aged premenopausal females & males (Bhaskara et al, in prep; Lissaman et al 2024) /3
More than 3000 adults (18 - 65 yrs old) have enrolled! Of these > 500 have come in for cognitive testing & blood donation; and > 300 have undergone MRI imaging, including 188 middle-aged adults (40-65 yrs old) with task fMRI data. /2
