I desperately *desperately* want to see the trains brought back in Nova Scotia. It fucking kills me that this province had a great provincial passenger rail network and then they just tore it up in the 90s for no reason. Generational vandalism.

I know I quote from that essay ad nauseum, but seriously folks, if you haven't read "Ur-Fascism", you are missing out on critical analysis that is absolutely essential for understanding the current moment.

It's such an intuitive ritual to check all products to make sure that they aren't made in the US, I don't even think about it anymore.
You can also basically tell from the shelves, even without the maple-leaf stickers. US products are often fully stocked and discounted, because no one wants them.
The best time to move to Canada from the US was a year ago, the second best time is now.

I continue to flip back and forth between "the Trump regime is clearly trying to do as much global damage as possible before getting absolutely boned in the midterms" optimism, and "the Trump regime is clearly trying to instigate a war so disruptive that they can cancel the midterms" pessimism.
OK, here's @claudiachenderns.bsky.social speaking at the arts & culture rally. Good to see that both the main opposition parties are getting on board. It would be really cool if they could forge some kind of temporary alliance, and work together to bring down Houston.
